Apple Spice Dump Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2011
I made this exactly as instructed. The additional sugar and spices were not necessary in my opinion. I like the concept so I will make it again, but will only use the apple pie filling, cake mix and butter. Also, this is definitely not a cake - it is more like an apple crisp. I may try mixing the apples with the cake mix to see how that turns out (I'm hoping more of a cake texture with big apple chunks in it!).

Brownie Crackles

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2010
These cookies are delicious! A couple of notes: The chocolate chips are nice, but not a necessary ingredient. I chilled the dough before rolling into balls and coating with sugar and this made it much easier to work with (I tried doing it right away and it was far to messy!). These took 20 minutes to be fully done, probably due to the chilled dough and using baking stones instead of metal baking sheets. Lastly, on the second set that I baked I flattened the cookies slightly with a spatula when they were half way done - this made for a nicer presentation.

Parmesan Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
Good flavor, however the quantity of breadcrumbs would have covered 4 chops rather than 2. Next time I will either half the recipe for that part or make 4 servings.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
It smelled so good cooking that I burned my tonge tasting it when it was done! Other than substituting brown rice for the barley (thought I had some so I didn't pick any up at the store), I made it as directed. Will definitely make again, possibly with different veggies and maybe add beef or chicken.

Barley Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
Great recipe to start with! I made the following changes: no mushrooms (personal preference), added 1 can of drained, rinsed garbanzo beans, added 1 pkg of frozen spinach, doubled the barley and broth amounts. Turned into an excellent main dish, with plenty left over for lunches the next two days for work!

Pudding Chocolate Chippers

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2009
These are a bit too sweet for my taste, however they were a big hit with the family, so I will be making them again. Maybe using dark chocolate chips would cut down on the sweetness.

Zucchini Cheese Garlic Appetizer

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2009
I was looking forward to this recipe based on the reviews, but after trying it I wasn't impressed. It definitely needed to cook longer than the instructions, and I found the cheese/onion/garlic flavors to be overpowering. Between my husband and myself we have eaten approximately 1/6 of the pan, and will likely not eat the rest :(

Sweet and Sour Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2009
I love beans, and I love sweet and sour, so I knew this recipe would be good. After I mixed all of the items, I put them in a casserole dish and baked them for a little more than an hour. Thanks for sharing!

Chicken Scampi I

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
I let this marinate for 24 hours, and the chicken really tasted like wine! I found it a little too strong for my tastes, but my husband liked it. Next time I will not marinate for that long.

Bessy's Zesty Grilled Garlic-Herb Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This recipe has potential to be five stars, but there is just too much oil as written. All in all it is a great marinade and I will definitely use it again this summer!

Baked Soy Lemon Chops

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This was a great recipe. I marinaded the chops for 24 hours, and they were on the tough side. Next time I will try marnading for 12 hours instead of 24.

Grilled Caribbean Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
This recipe was alright, but nothing special. To get enough marinade to truly cover the six chicken breast halves I used, I had to use 4 times the amounts for all of the other ingredients!

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
I followed the recipe and found that the bacon was a bit too greasy, as noted by another reviewer. The flavor was great, however, in the future I will cook the bacon first and add it too the spinach and feta mixture so cut down on the grease.

Spicy Basil Chicken

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
This was okay. I followed the directions with the exception of substituting green beans for mushrooms and served it over noodles because I didn't have any rice on hand. Neither my husband or myself were particularly wow'd by it. I actually enjoyed the leftovers the next day for lunch better than I had the night before.

Chicken and Lentils

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
My husbad didn't like the flavor at all, but I thought it was pretty good. It heated up well as leftovers as well. I did find myself preferring the lentils more than the chicken though, so next time I might make this a vegetarian dish and skip the chicken all together!

Five Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2008
I really enjoyed this dish, but my husband said that he prefers traditional baked beans over these sweet & sour beans. I will definitely make them again, but only when I am prepared to eat the leftovers myself!

Anniversary Chicken II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
The flavor was good, but you don't need as much of the sauces as directed. I only made 4 chicken breast halves, so I used about 1/4 cup of soy sauce and I only used enough ranch and parmesan cheese to cover the chicken. I will make this again, but it isn't a favorite.

Broiled Herb Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
This recipe was delicious. I melted the butter and used about 1/3 cup butter and then used canola oil to get to one cup. The recipe only gets 4 stars instead of 5 due to the smoke that was created, but I found that there is less smoke if you broil on low and turn/baste the chicken every 4-5 minutes.
