I cooked this too long =( Not so long that it came out gross, it was edible and tasted pretty good, but it could have been better. My slow cooker is more powerful than I give it credit for. I'm giving it 5 stars because I hate when people give a recipe a low score because THEY did something wrong! I had a chicken that was over 7lbs, that's why I felt I needed to cook it for so long. I took another posters advice and wrapped potatoes in foil to make mashed potatoes...although that is a GREAT idea, it didn't come out very good either for me. BUT, I LOVE this idea of cooking a whole chicken in the slow cooker. I will try it again and do it right next time (I hope). Oh, I did brown the skin in the broiler first, that was a good idea. I rubbed the skin with butter then seasoned it before putting it in the broiler. I WILL get this right next time! ;o).
