Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2014
WOW! I never made Tiramisu before! I saw this recipe and thought "that seems pretty easy"...so I tried it. I did it as the video showed. Although, since I had never worked with ladyfingers, they got just a tad too soggy when I dipped them...I didn't realize how quickly they soaked up the liquid! Ya live ya learn! This was super easy and super delish!!!! Thanks for a great recipe!

Cola Easter Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2014
AHHHHHH-MAZING!!!!! I just made this today for Easter dinner. Everyone raved about it! My mom said it was the best ham she ever tasted! When I read the recipe I said "oh man, this sounds like it will be WAY too sweet!"...But it really wasn't at all! Absolutely DELISH! I made it exactly the way the recipe says....I used a spiral ham. Loved it! Thank you!!!!

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2013
Just made this today (a perfect day to make it on this snowy December day)...YUMMM-MEEE!!!! I caramelized the onions, used the sherry AND some red wine...I used 2 sweet onions, 1 yellow onion and 2 red onions. Only 1/4 cup butter...2 Knorr beef bouillon cubes. 4 cans of beef broth and 1 can of chicken broth (I would have used 2 but didn't have another one) As I started cooking I realized I didn't have any dried Thyme...ugh! So I used an Italian blend with thyme, marjoram, rosemary, sage, oregano & basil (McCormick). I used Gruyere and Fontina cheese on top. It was REALLY good! My picky 8 year old daughter LOVED it! So did the hubs. By the way, I have NEVER made French Onion Soup before...but I'm a confident cook and things I make for the first time usually come out really good. My brother makes FOS all the time but this one kicks his FOS's butt!!!! I will be making this again and again!

Banana Coconut Cupcakes

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2013
I thought these were VERY good! I used coconut oil instead of Olive Oil. And I added some mini dark chocolate chips. I just had one without icing...but I will be icing them. They're not sweet, they are more muffin than cupcake I think...but they're REALLY yummy! Oh, and I only baked them for 20 minutes...that was plenty of time.

Sausage, Pepper, and Onion Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
This is a great recipe. I make it in the slow cooker...I brown the sausage first, there isn't a ton of grease by making it in the slow cooker. I don't add the pan juices because the sausage is already simmering all day. Makes the house smell yummy!

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2013
I love spaghetti squash! I usually make it like spaghetti & meatballs (great low point Weight Watchers meal!). I was looking for a different way to make it....and this was a great new recipe! Definitely a keeper! I added some kidney beans...I would add some chick peas too. You can add anything to this recipe! I used EVOO instead of vegetable oil, I never use vegetable oil for anything. EVOO or Canola only! Thanks so much for this recipe!

Slow Cooker Barbequed Beef Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2013
I bought pork ribs and went to prepare them for the slow cooker in the morning when I realized that I did not have BBQ sauce! I never made BBQ sauce from scratch before so I checked Allrecipes.com like I always do. I chose this one because I had all the ingredients on hand. It was VERY good! I doubled the recipe...and I added a teaspoon of cayenne pepper to give it a little spice with the sweetness. I would do as another poster said and omit the water. It was too liquid for me, I like a thicker sauce. Oh, I also added some honey. Its not too sweet at all. I would actually add more brown sugar next time, and honey, along with the cayenne pepper. This is a great base BBQ sauce to tweak however you like! I also broiled the ribs first like I always do. And I added a large onion to the crock pot. Cooked it on low for 7 hours and it was delish! =)

London Broil I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
Very good recipe! I marinated the london broil in a plastic bag overnight and then cooked it in the slow cooker for 6 hours...I added some whole baby mushrooms, onions, carrots, yellow, red and orange peppers (I wanted to add potatoes but I didn't have any). I put it in the slow cooker because my grill is covered in snow right now =). I can't wait to try it in the summer! It gave the veggies great flavor. I think 6 hours on low was a tad bit too long, but it was still good anyway =)

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
Very good recipe. I like that you don't have to use buttermilk because I never have that in the house. You definitely need to let this sit after you bread it....for a half hour or hour, the longer the better. Next time I may bread it in the afternoon, put it on wax paper and put it in the fridge until I'm ready to fry it for dinner. I added more spices too....some cayenne pepper gave it a little kick =). Over all, very good, yes messy but so what! Thanks for the recipe! I forgot to add that I made it in chicken strips because I thought it would be faster. It was, but also even messier =)

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
This was very good. I used 3lbs of ground turkey and doubled the other ingredients. I browned the turkey and put all the ingredients in the slow cooker for like 5 hours on high. It was pretty spicy so I added brown sugar to tame it down a little. My son LOVED the sweet twist it had =) I will be making it again.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2011
YUMMY!!!! This is sooo good!!!! I used 1 can of cream of chicken and one can of cream of mushroom because that is what I had in the house. I took another posters advice and put the whole thing in the oven to cook the dough. It was really good! Even my husband liked it and he's not a "chicken" kinda guy =)

Shrimp Scampi

Very yummy! I added some broccoli just to get some veggie in there =). I also added more garlic because I like garlic. I'm thinking it would be good with Sundried Tomatoes too...I'll try that next time. This recipe is very easy! Definitely a keeper!

Absolutely Best Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
These are very good brownies...a little too cake like for me. I doubled the recipe and used regular flour, I think I should have used 1 less egg (3 instead of 4). I also used mini muffin pans for bite sized brownies. All in all they're good =)

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I cooked this too long =( Not so long that it came out gross, it was edible and tasted pretty good, but it could have been better. My slow cooker is more powerful than I give it credit for. I'm giving it 5 stars because I hate when people give a recipe a low score because THEY did something wrong! I had a chicken that was over 7lbs, that's why I felt I needed to cook it for so long. I took another posters advice and wrapped potatoes in foil to make mashed potatoes...although that is a GREAT idea, it didn't come out very good either for me. BUT, I LOVE this idea of cooking a whole chicken in the slow cooker. I will try it again and do it right next time (I hope). Oh, I did brown the skin in the broiler first, that was a good idea. I rubbed the skin with butter then seasoned it before putting it in the broiler. I WILL get this right next time! ;o).

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Holy yummy muffins Batman!!!! I took advice of other posters using 1/3 cup oil instead of butter and adding vanilla (not sure why vanilla isn't in the original recipe...how do you NOT use vanilla in a muffin!), cinnamon and nutmeg. I cut the sugar using 1/4 cup white and 1/4 cup brown in the batter. I added some mini choc chips...not many so it wasn't overwhelming. Next time I think I'll add some of the blueberries that I picked on my trip to the Finger Lakes! Excellent, moist muffin...DELISH! Thanks Lisa!!!!!!
