Grandma's Cucumber-Onion Salad with Dill

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
We always ate our cucumbers like this all summer long and as long as we had them out of the garden. My grandmother always had a bowl of thes in her fridge as well. Thanks for the reminder to make them.

Bacon and Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
A great salad base. Changed out a few things - green pepper and black olives for the cuke as I have people who dont eat cukes. The dressing is delish, tastes like the old time mayo my grandmother used to make. It tastes sweet when you make it but once it is on the salad, the sweetness dissapates. Hubs even eats this and he is not a big salad fan. Thanks for a great recipe!

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
First time I have ever made Irish Soda Bread, it turned out beautifully and was easy and tasted fantastic. I used butter instead of margerine and basted with butter only.

Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade

Oh my goodness, this is wonderful. It is a bit garlicky but that is my fault as I added an extra clove but it is tasty on pita bread chips. Thank for the great recipe.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

These cookies turned out wonderful and they taste great. I made the dough in my food processor which worked up very nicely. I used my middle size cookie scoop to scoop out the dough on the cookie sheet (walnut size) and a 3/4 inch diameter wooden spoon to make the indents about 1/4 inche deep and being careful to squeeze the dough back together if it split a bit. When they baked they flattened nicely and turned out perfect. Thank you so much for a great recipe.

Remarkable Fudge

This is the best fudge recipe ever. I cant imagine anyone having a problem making this unless they dont use a candy thermometer. Thanks for sharing it on here and now I dont have to hunt up my book each Christmas for the recipe.

Sweet and Sour Pork Patties

I was glad to see these as a featured recipe in an email as they are wonderful. We eat a lot of ground pork in place of ground beef and I have made them many times and my husband loves them.

These were wonderful. I did use self rising cornmeal mix instead of the flour because that was what I had and it worked great too.

Dave's Low Country Boil

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2005
This recipe is wonderful. We used our turkey cooker outside on the patio and because we are from the midwest, we had to use frozen uncooked shrimp and some fish pieces instead of crab. The cooking only took about 30 minutes. It was fantastic and we are looking forward to warmer weather here so we can do it again. We finished off with Key lime tarts made in cupcake papers. Wonderful recipe and so much fun to dump everything on the table and dig in! We gorged ourselves and finished it all off!

Key Lime Pie VIII

This was excellent! So easy and so flavorful! I did use a graham cracker crust and the filling was fluffy and smooth and filled it up nicely. I also put it in the freezer to chill it quickly and then decided to put it back in the freezer after serving some and when I had a piece the next day, it was fantastic frozen also. Thank you Charlotte for the wonderful recipe,,

Zucchini Patties

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2004
Hey, this is Sherlie! Thank you so much for all your kind reviews and thanks for trying my recipe. I am so thrilled that it is so popular and that Allrecipes has put it in several of their cookbooks. It is a versatile recipe and can be varied with any indgredients except of course the zucchini. One of the best tips for making it is to drain the zucchini as it makes the batter runny if you dont and doing that in a couple of paper towels works wonderfully. Just wring it out. Thanks again, readers. You are a great bunch!!!

Apricot Bars II

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2003
I had a bar like this at a Fall Fair and it was wonderful. The porportions for this were for a much bigger pan and not a 9X13. First time,I made it in a 9X13, it was very dense and second time was in a 11X15 and still pretty thick, so I will halve the recipe for the jelly roll pan and double the filling. It was exactly the recipe I was looking for and is delicious if in the right pan.
