Loved this recipe as is but added some apple cider as some suggested. I think that the recipe could use extra chicken stock as it seemed very full with pork and veg and not enough liquid. Perhaps thickening may make it more stew like also. I will add kale or other hearty greens next time. I think that would add some color and extra nutrition punch. Overall, a great stew. It was cold and rainy here in Syracuse today. This fit the bill with toasted garlic bread. YUM! Thanks for sharing CariCat.

This was a wonderful recipe...albeit not the most healthy! I figured I might as well go all the way and added about 6 ounces of grated cheddar cheese....so good. The family loved it. Thanks Ellie for sharing.

Excellent! Only minor changes.....I used all broth, six cups and no water and cut the potatoes in quarters and then sliced. Left out the chile as my family does not like heat. I added the kale at the same time as the potatoes and cooked 30 - 40 minutes....perfect! This also might be good with browned keilbasa as well....perhaps next time. Enjoy!

Very nice soup. I used broth I made from a combination of veg tips an peels that I saved in a zip bag in the freezer and some veg that I roasted. Much better than packaged and you control the salt. I needed two quarts of broth to thin this enough to eat....still quite thick. I added nutmeg and the grated peel of one orange at the end. This really made it pop. Otherwise, no other changes. Served with paninis made with swiss, provolone, tomato and proscuitto. Yummy!

This recipe was overpowered by the chili seasoning creating a "store bought" flavor. Suggest using only half packet or creating one using spices separately. Also, two cans of whole tomatoes was unappetizing. Perhaps one can of whole and one can of crushed would help. I have a family that eats just about everything. They asked that I not repeat this one. Won't be making this again.

This was just fair. I thought the tomato soup overpowered with a preserved flavor. I needed to add 2 1/2 cups of beef broth to eliminate the gelatinous texture. Also agree with other reviewers, this needed potatoes or barley. On the plus side, the beef was very tender. Likely won't make this again.

I doubled the sauce as others had suggested, no change in the recipe and finished in the oven. We were very dissappointed. The steaks were tender however the sauce was so overpowering and tasted of too much worcestershire and concentrated onion soup. I think it would be better with half onion soup and half beef broth to tame it some and perhaps a bit less worcestershire. With a few changes I think this could be very good. Perhaps reconstituting the onion soup would help.

This was a very good and different soup. I made a few alterations...I added chopped fresh spinich just before serving and almost doubled the broth as the lemon flavor was too overpowering, even for a lemon lover like me! I also cooked the orzo on the side and added to each bowl at serving time. I find that cooking and storing the pasta on the side eliminates it from soaking up the broth and becoming soggy. Very good overall and freezes well.

This was a nice recipe, although not outstanding. I think there were too many dumplings, soaked up much of the gravy. The family enjoyed this and I'll make again.

This is a very flavorful, easy recipe. I made a couple of adjustments - patted the dough and made small slices as one other reviewer suggested. The result was a less doughy dumpling that cooked more quickly. I also substituted a can of cream of celery, chicken stock for the water and added some white wine and a sprig of rosemary. I found that skinless, bone in thighs resulted in a moister meat. Just removed the bones at the end and rough pulled the meat into faily large pieces. Frozen peas mixed in at the end finished it off nicely. Rave reviews by the family. I love this site, thanks for so many wonderful recipes!

I followed some of the other suggestions and substituted chicken broth, added extra spinach and tomatoes and added a little lemon juice to the broth. Excellent, complex flavors served over farfalle. The combination of the feta, spinach, lemon and chicken broth was well balanced and refreshing. I too found that the prep time was understated. None the less, easy with a nice presentation. A great change of pace. A keeper.

I made this a day ahead for Thanksgiving. Overall the recipe was good. We felt that it was a bit sweet. Next time I'll reduce the sugar a bit. Otherwise, easy, tasty and a crowd pleaser. The chopped nuts added a nice texture. Didn't miss the marshmallows a bit....would have added to the sweetness. Thanks Heather.

This was a real hit on Thanksgiving!! It saved so much time, put in the crock pot in the morning and it was done with the turkey. I thought that the range in time was a bit wide. I found that 45 ninutes on high and 5 hours on low was just right. I used prepared, dry, unseasoned bread cubes and added the entire 4.5 cups of liquid. This turned out perfect. Much fluffier than the traditional cooking method. Will definately make again. Such a time saver.

I made this recipe for Thanksgiving. I used Yukon Gold potatoes and followed the recipe exactly and was thrilled with the results. I also made Slow Cooker Stuffing and Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic from this site. Being able to make these a day ahead of the big Thanksgiving meal made a world of difference, none of the usual frantic rush. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and delicious food very much. One of the easiest and best francaise recipes I've ever tried. The whole family loved it. Light and refreshing taste. The proportions of lemon and egg were perfect. Will make again and again. Thanks.

I was intrigued by the combination of ingredients. However, this recipe did not live up to my expectations. It was heavy, bland and had an overpowering processed taste. I think there were too many ingredients that competed with each other with the tomatoes putting it over the top. Even the three year old "vacuum" didn't like it. Generally, the recipes here are very good, this just wasn't one of them. Thanks anyway.

An excellent blend of flavors, worth the effort. I highly suggest making it a day ahead. The vinegar and caraway were overpowering the day I made it but, were well balanced the next day. The red pepper was a little much for me but, family members thought it was great. I made this in a pressure cooker and had great success. I will make this again and again, thick, hearty and warming on a night when central NY is in the throws of a noreaster!
