About this Cook
Hey there, I'm Maia. :) I'm 16 & I love good food! My parents are super busy so for many years we've had very basic and quite tasteless meals that my dad prepared in a hurry - so a couple of years ago, I decided to take over. Now I'm making most of our meals, and enjoying it greatly. I love discovering simple recipes that are full of flavor (and with affordable ingredients!).
My favorite things to cook
I love Indian food... it's a real challenge :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
The Sunday pancakes. We haven't had those in a while but when I was a kid, we'd have our pancakes with cottage cheese and peaches every Sunday, without fail.
My cooking triumphs
Triumphs? Oh, I dunno. Probably a dinner I invented on the spot, which made the family say, "Wow! Where'd you find the recipe?"
My cooking tragedies
When I was making carrot soup and the blender exploded in my hands :P

To Die For Blueberry Muffins
These were good... but ohmygod way too sweet. I didn't even add the crumb topping (another 1/2 cup of sugar!) and it was still too much. Don't forget the sugar in the blueberries! If I ever make this recipe again I'm cutting the sugar in half, at the very least.

Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw
Yum! Tastes just like from the store. I thought this was great - however, there's wayyyy too much liquid so next time I'm going to cut it by half. I can't wait to see how it will improve just by sitting in the fridge. Thanks for the recipe!

Strawberry Pie II
To me, it kinda tasted like Jello, except ...not as good as Jello. The cornstarch/jelly feel was just a little annoying... my sister felt the same, my mom thought it was okay. I might try it again to experiment, and throw some cream in the jelly mixture as someone else mentioned, but not any time soon. Slightly disappointed.
