So this is my first blog entry.  I have been pondering about doing this for a long time. So what I do that I think is different than a lot of other people is that I make a new recipe almost every night of the week.  I really don't know how I began doing this because as a child I was a very picky eater.  Obvioulsy my older child, Jacob, has inherited this as well. I clip recipes from magazines and file this is a file box under catagories such as chicken, beef, pork, and sides etc.  I have so many that this is the only way I can stay organized.  When I go grocery shopping I try and buy meat when it is on sale.  Lately I have been buying all my beef and pork from a local cattle farmer that raisies the beef he butchers and his neighbor raises the pork.  The business is USDA inspected and we know where our meat comes from.  This creates a lot of peace of mind for my family, as well as flavorful dishes.  I usually freeze it immediately and then will create a week of menu from what I have in the freezer.  This way I don't buy onthe spur of the moment and pay regular prices.  I pull recipes from the file that makes the best use of what I have available in my pantry as well.  So once I make a new recipe, I ask my family what they thought of it.  If it is a very good dish then I will refile it with notes on the recipe.  If it is not good, then I toss it.  So that's my first post.  I like variety when it comes to food so maybe this will inspire you to start a new recipe file also.

As a matter of fact, I'm picking up the supplies for my recipe notebook tomorrow a.m. I cook whatever comes to mind with my food at hand and it always works! Welcome and looking forward to hearing about your creative meals.

About Me
I am a self taught cook. I really don't know what happened one day but I decided to try a new recipe every day. I have been doing this for many years now. If we love it, I will file it and use it again. But if a clipped recipe isn't something we just love, it gets tossed because I don't have the room to keep them all.
My favorite things to cook
Everything that is family friendly. I tend to shy away from seafood just because I don't care for it. When my husband wants seafood, we go out.

We love to grill in the summer and love entertaining. My husband is from Cali and I from the south. So I tend to switch up the food a lot.

I used way too much phyllo dough one day and it took a long time to find the chicken inside.
