Jalapeno Poppers of Champions

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
I've made these four times now and use Philadephia cream cheese with chives. I also use regular bacon and just cut a slice into thirds and place it directly on top of the cream cheese filled jalapenos - a whole lot easier than wrapping them around each half and having to use a toothpick, You can also crank up the oven to 400.

Ono Butter Mochi

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
This recipe is very similar to a Portuguese/Chinese dessert our family calls "gooey cake". I too used a can of coconut milk (12 ounces) and used 2% milk for the rest to equal 3 cups. Don't be alarmed if the sides rise faster than the middle - after it cools, it settles. I had to cook mine about and hour and 15 minutes and had to cover it with foil the last 15 mins so it didn't get too dark on top. Turned out perfect, and I can't wait to get to California tomorrow for my Mom and daughter to try it!

Avocado Salsa

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
Got great reactions to this at work! I halved the recipe and used only 1 1/2 cloves of garlic and still kept the vampires away all day. Also added a roasted jalapeno and used lime instead of lemon since that's all I had. So glad I was lazy to go to the store and added oregano as the recipe stated instead of fresh cilantro. Ate this with my leftover beef barley soup (also from this website) - oh yum!

Hot Italian Giardiniera

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
This was really good. The oil hardens in the fridge so I have to put some in a bowl and defrost it in the microwave in order to eat it. Tastes really good though. Made a good salad with it (green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, and feta with a precooked chicken breast) and added some French vinaigrette. Nice change to have a spicy, kicked up salad.

Delicious Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
Good recipe...put 1/2 cup oil and pureed 3/4 of an Asian pear to make up the other 1/2 cup. Canned pumpkin was 15 ounces so I put about 1/2 cup of sour cream too. Very moist.

Asian Coleslaw

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
This was really a delicious salad/slaw. I just cut up a small head of green cabbage; toasted some sliced almonds with a pat of butter; added about half a can of chow mein rice noodles and cut up a half a grilled chicken breast into pieces. Didn't add bell peppers, carrots or cilalntro. I only used half of the ingredients listed for the dressing (with only one tablespoon of ginger and one large clove of minced garlic). I also added about a quarter cup of water as it appeared a little thick. A teaspoon of sesame oil is what put it over the top!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
Holy ...this salad was THE BOMB! I added cucumber slices, red onion rings, two tomatoes, a whole bag of Craisins, a bag of honey almond slices, and some feta cheese (but didn't put the poppy seeds). I also put a clove of garlic in the dressing and used Splenda equal to about 1/4 cup instead of sugar. I was told this salad was "slap your mama good" :)

Grandma's Chicken Chardon

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
I just made this for dinner and it was sooooo good! I followed the recipe as written, but you need to pay attention to the amounts in the ingredient section if you change it to 4 servings or else you'll end up putting in two teaspoons of garlic powder instead of one! I didn't put any mushrooms in and it was still yummy! Will definitely make this again and it's even good enough for company. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe :)

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2009
Other than curry, I thought I wasn't a fan of Indian food...until I made this last night. I wish I would have read the reviews beforehand and added some garam masala since I actually had some with my spices. I warmed up flour tortillas from Central Market (the best!) and gobbled it up :P

Chocolate Brittle Surprise

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
These are so rich, but SO good! I used one whole sleeve of saltine crackers (37). After I spread the chocolate, I put sliced almonds on half and chopped pecans on the other. Took no time at all, and I know everyone that is getting some of these in their cookie tin are just going to love them!

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
Had a few people over these went great with my Mexican theme of skewered beef fajitas, jalapeno poppers and salsa and chips. Made mojitos magarita style (crushed ice). Only 8 people and everything disappeared (I even doubled this egg roll recipe). For the dip, I just bought a bottle of Hidden Valley Ranch buttermilk dressing and put in some chopped red and green bell peppers just to make it pretty.

Spicy Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2008
People at work loved this. Instead of Italian dressing I add a clove of minced garlic, the juice of one lime and a handful of cilantro, chopped - doesn't need all the added fat you get when you add oil contained in Italian dressing.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2007
This was a PERFECT blend! I made "ultimate" nachos for a benefit and they turned out great! I used one tablespoon per pound of ground beef and added cheese, sour cream, olives, jalapeno slices and homemade pico de gallo - simply delish!!!

Tiramisu Toffee Dessert

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
This is a super easy recipe and SO DELICIOUS! I used my Vietnamese coffee press so the coffee would be really strong. I only added 1/2 cup sugar with the cream cheese and substituted Kahlua for the chocolate syrup. I poured about a cup of the heavy cream in with it (this made the middle layer). I then beat the other cup of cream with about 1/4 cup of sugar and added about a 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla extract (next time I think I'll add rum instead). I spread this mixture on top and put the crushed up Heath bar on last. All you other alcoholics out there will love it this way...lol!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
This is an excellent recipe! I used a 7 oz. can of chopped green chilis and then roasted 3 jalapeno peppers and seeded and chopped them (and have a burned arm to prove it...lol). Didn't have any cayenne so added some black pepper. PERFECT amount of spice for me. I did drain the beans, but didn't rinse them. I also used 2 1/2 cups of broth from the two chicken breasts that I boiled with some bouillon. Ate a bowl for lunch with a dallop of sour cream - DELICIOUS!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
Great recipe! Cold and raining, so I didn't feel like stopping at the store on my way home from work just for some chili seasoning. Searched the internet and found a perfect recipe for some. I had everything else in my pantry. Used 93/3 ground beef so didn't need to drain any fat. Added a roasted jalapeno and some fresh garlic; other than that, followed the recipe. I found it a little salty so added a little water. Thickened it at the end with some masa harina...GREAT!

Avocado, Tomato and Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
This is really delicious! I doubled the recipe and just put two garlic cloves and it was more than enough. My friend at work said I could make it and sell it, but it does require a lot of chopping. Sure is eye appealing too.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2009
This recipe deserves 10 stars! I used chicken broth instead of the water and chicken bouillon. I only made half of what the recipe calls for, but wish I hadn't, because I bet this freezes well. Will probably make another batch this week :)
