About this Cook
I'm a grad student so I'm interested in recipes that are relatively quick and easy, reasonably healthy, and of course, tasty.
My favorite things to cook
-chocolate chip cookies -crock pot anything -Grandma Ruby cake -baked pasta -macaroni and cheese
My favorite family cooking traditions
-Grandma Ruby cake -macaroni and cheese -learning family recipes (there are a lot of good cooks in my family) -cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning
My cooking triumphs
-making family recipes for the first time -cooking things picky eaters will eat -successfully baking cakes with made-from-scratch icing -figuring out how to multi-task and not burn everything
My cooking tragedies
-scorching potatoes for potato salad (blackened to the bottom of the pan) -burning rice when I'm supposed to be browning it

Golden Sweet Cornbread
I made this tonight and it was delicious! I used just a hair over 1/2 cup of sugar, per other reviews, and it was perfect. Will definitely make it again!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake
I have made this recipe several times and it always turns out. It did crack last time I made it but I'm sure that's some fault of mine and not the recipe. Always a big hit with the family!

Mexican Wedding Cookies
I made these at the request of my mom, who remembered having some really good ones somewhere. They weren't bad. I was surprised by the consistency, because at first they seemed dry, but then they melt in your mouth.
