Linguini with Broccoli and Red Peppers

Nothing too special.. I didn't add peppers because my mother is allergic to them; the linguini with the brocolli was too boring. There should have definetly been some sauce in there. Meatball sauce, perhaps. Otherwise, its a filler and VERY QUICK!

Blueberry Cream Cheese Pound Cake II

The title of this cake makes it sound ridiculously hard. It wasn't though; don't let this intimidate you. My cake didn't turn out as beautiful as the picture :( probably because I didn't have a bundt pan. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ONE! The very center of my cake wasn't baked that well; if it was a bundt pan it would have come out perfect. I really thought I would taste some cream cheese in the cake; but I barely did, which dissapointed me because I'm a cream cheese fan. After tasting the mixture, it was so sweet. Too sweet, if I may add. To lessen the sweetness and make it a bit more sour, I added some of the juice from the blueberry can and mixed it. Before adding the icing, I thought the cake would be kind of boring if it was all by itself + icing. So finally I decided to cut the cake RIGHT in the middle and add my own cream in there. I mixed sour cream with sugar (an old Russian tradition) and placed in the center. I put both sides together and it looked like a huge blueberry cookie! After, I added the icing; it turned out purple. The purple kind of intimidated people; purple icing on a cookie-like cake? Very strange. At the gathering, people were hesitant to try it, but everyone loved it! It was very sweet and moist, like someone said before. To conclude this review, if you're looking for a little more in this cake, I suggest the Russian creme (sour cream + sugar). This will definetly spice things up ! Hope this long review was worth it.

Sarah's Applesauce

This was okay. I don't exactly agree with what others have said; to me, it tasted like the apple sauce bought from the store. If you want a basic apple sauce recipe, this is it. Nothing special here. Also, I had to wait a lot longer, compared to the recipe time, for most of the water to go away, otherwise it would have been too watery. Looks beautiful with cinnamon sprinkled on top, surrounded by apples =)

B and L's Strawberry Smoothie

This was really good. Everyone finished their glasses and made slurpy sounds :D. Haha, thats unnecessary. I'd cut down a little on the vanilla extract, unless you like the vanilla extract taste. (Personally, I don't like it that much!). The ice doesn't have to be crushed, I tossed uncrushed ice as the drink blended. A 4.5 smoothie!

These were really good!! I enjoyed making them, and very quick. My guests couldn't get enough of them. Make sure to add the cinnamon in at the right time, though, because they might come out darker looking.

Triple Threat Fruit Smoothie

This recipe.... was healthy, if I may say. It didn't exactly quite fit the taste I was looking for, and the picture made it look a bit too good. One time, I tried a drink, sort of like this, at Casey's in Canada (anyone ever heard of it?). The smoothie had guaranteed lots and lots of protein and to be overall healthy. Anyways, too many blueberry skin pieces, and I dont think the peach yogurt improved the taste that much. However, I adore smoothies and I've had experience with bad ones. If its base really was to be healthy, this drink.. not so bad! The family members didn't LOVE it, however we all finished our glasses without hesitation.

These were great! To let them fully cool, I had to wait around 20 minutes. However, my guests got impatient so we started eating them a bit warm. They were fine! The next morning, they were delicious. I ate them with a glass of milk. The other night one of the guests had asked for the recipe. The only thing I altered in this recipe was the graham cracker crumbs. I couldn't find those in my local store, so I just bought graham crackers and crushed them myself. I love s'mores, so this was a great recipe! Thanks!

Grilled Salmon Skewers

THESE WERE AMAZING!! I have officially fallen in love with these salmon skewers. I didn't have rice vinegar, so I used basalmic vinegar. Also, I didn't have fresh ginger root, so I used the powedered kind instead, like someone said before. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly... they came out so light and soft.. it felt AND tasted great! I will definetly be making this when we have guests over. Thank you so much! One last thing -- I didn't have lemon wedges, so the salmon was by itself on the skewers. However, you MUST add droplets of juice from the lemon before you start to eat it, don't eat it without doing that!!

Golden Potato Soup

I liked this so much!!! I haven't had potato soup in such a long time. Anyways, I didn't add the ham because I'm Jewish. Also, the celery is GREAT with this soup. It was the best part. Good recipe !

Dessert Crepes

These were great. This recipe doesn't have to be for dessert - I had it for breakfast! I changed the servings to 4 and used a small sized skillet, and I got around 10. Yummy in the tummy! :) Also, I suggest that if you're eating these crepes for breakfast, use sour cream on the inside then roll it. It tastes great, and I do this for most of my crepes. Enjoy!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

These weren't anything special.. my mother said she'd had these in a restaurant before, but when she saw that for 8 people, you need 10 ounces of butter, she flipped out. Thats a lot of butter. So we usd 4 ounces of butter, and the rest milk. We added a little more salt and oregeno, but I'm sure that this recipe would have been much better if we had used all the butter. So I dont exactly recommend anyone using milk instead of butter unless you want it healthier. Maybe next time we'll use all the butter, hopefully it turns out as good as it says it to be!

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Oh my!! What delicious kabobs! They're probably the best I've ever had!! We ate them with wild rice, and it was absolutely delicious. We altered the amount for some of the ingredients, but otherwise, PERFECT! We will definetly be making these in the future. Thank you so much!

Heavenly Blueberry Smoothie

I had to alter the recipe a lot. I didn't have vanilla soy milk, so I used organic 1% milk. Opposed to the vanilla fat-free yogurt, I used 99% fat-free french vanilla yogurt. This may be a better choice on everyones part. Next, I don't exactly know what a flax seed meal is, however I had cinnamon raison flax seeds so I used that instead. Now, to the part of honey, I used as much as directed, yet the drink tastes too much like honey. I dont like honey that much, and this smoothie is a blueberry smoothie, not a honey smoothie. So I'd definetly cut down on that. I didn't freeze the blueberries, nor did I have frozen blueberries, so I just put the regular blueberries as-is. The drink may have not tasted as it should've, on my part because of the ingredients, but I dont care much if the drink is healthy or not so I did add more fat to it. But fatty drinks do taste GOOD (better than nonfat), and I can't say that about this drink. I added whipped cream on top with left over blueberries, so I'd definetly recommend that if you're still going for health reasons.

Pasta Pomodoro

I was very dissapointed in this. It looks so much better in the picture. Anyways, the pasta had no flavor or spice AT ALL. My family and I tried adding several things AFTER it was made, but it still had no good taste. My mother added a special soy souce, and that improved a little. It was her own taste though, so it may not work for everybody. To the point, I thought this recipe was going to turn out great. I guess I was wrong.

Groovie Smoothie

Not bad! It actually tasted like a strawberry banana smoothie, the ones at Mr. Smoothie or Smoothie King. However, it didn't have as much flavor as I hoped it would. It wasn't cold, so I'd definetly recommend adding ice. Also, I used regular strawberries because I didn't have frozen ones, as someone said before.

Brazilian White Rice

This rice was GREAT!! I'm not a huge rice fan, but I kept avidly eating these! I served them with spicy Indian chicken which I made, and the rice was absolutely delicious with it. My mother never knew that you could fry the rice before using water. We will definetly be making this in the future. Thanks for the great recipe!
