Three Chile Dry Roasted Tomatillo Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2012
Fantastic! I used some jalapenos and then whatever other peppers were fresh in the garden - no idea what kind they were! End result - this stuff is great!

Butter Rich Spritz Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Just ok - not nearly the flavor of my original Spritz cookie recipe. (Tried this one as my recipe is MIA!) Will have to find it to use next Christmas.

Took this to a Christmas party today, and it was a HIT! EVERYBODY loved it, and needless to say, the plate was empty before the guests left! Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!

Soft Chocolate Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Good, just not the best chocolate cookies ever. Even after time in the fridge, these were still really sticky to roll. I started dusting my hands with flour, and that did the trick. Baked 10 minutes...just be careful not to over bake! Unfortunately, I know this from experience. Oops, just realized I forgot to dust with powdered sugar...too late for that now, as they are all gone!

Cilantro Serrano Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2010
Rather than mayo and heavy cream (+lots of fat and calories!) I used 1 cup greek yogurt, didn't seed my serrano's (like the heat!), added a small, peeled cucumber and a tomato (just happened to have these from the garden on the counter) and puree all together. Didn't add salt or pepper. Served on fish tacos, and it was absolutely delish!

Fudge Pops

Flavor is good, but I believe you HAVE to use whole milk. I used fat free, and they were icy, not creamy. Will try again with whole milk.

Turkey Sliders

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
While these are tasty, quick, and moist, I must say we prefer the Trump/Oprah turkey burger better. I think I'll try adding the goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes to that recipe. Might see if I can post it on allrecipes.com so others can easily compare. Thanks for sharing, Sonia! Bon Appetit! Sonja!!

Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
top of baking 30 mins then bottom of roasting approx. 30 mins. Watch so they don't burn. Shake in bag like recipe says - I sprayed tatos first with spray oil before placing in bag and shaking. I used powdered garlic 7/4/10. Need to use something spicier. Try Old Bay or Cajun Shake or Foreplay.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: May 31, 2010
OH MY GOODNESS!!! These are the best chocolate chip cookies EVER!!! Like other reviewers, I have tried other "higher rated" choc. chip cookie recipes. NOTHING comes close to these! I would suggest the following: use unsalted butter (not margarine), just be sure to melt; use 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (2 cups would be too much for my taste); do not grease the pan; cook exactly 15 minutes at 325, then leave on the pan for 10 minutes. PERFECT! Rave reviews from hubby and out-of-town company! The ONLY thing I might change would be to add about 1/2 cup chopped pecans next time. Oh, I used my electric hand mixer through the egg and egg yolk part. I stirred in the flour mixture and then the choc. chips in using a silicone spatula. I used my cookie/ice cream scoop (which I would guess is about 1/4 cup) to get same size cookies. I see no need to chill the dough, as someone suggested. SSOOO good!!!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
Followed advice of others and used 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup crisco. I didn't have peanut butter chips, so obviously didn't add those. Froze my quarter pb cups as others suggested. Also let my cookies sit on the tray for 10 minutes after coming out of the oven. Now, for my details: I will not add cocoa next time - not necessary at all. Will try adding a half cup or so of chopped pecans - think that might help to cut the sweetness a bit. I might even cut back on the white sugar a bit - maybe to 1/2 cup. Otherwise, a yummy cookie - made these for my favorite son-in-law who is coming to visit with our daughter, because he LOVES Reese's peanut butter cups....don't be concerned I'm playing favorites, as he's our ONLY son-in-law! Thanks Joanna for a great recipe!

Real Sopapillas

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2010
Wow! These are the best ever! So quick and easy. Only thing to be careful of is keeping the oil hot enough...if the temp goes too low, they don't puff! SSOO delicious with honey, cinnamon, and sugar!

Fudge Brownies I

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2010
I used 1/2 c. butter and 1/2 c. margarine. I used 2 rather than 4 eggs, per others suggestions, and I used 6 T. Carob powder and 3 T. Hershey's dark cocoa (my own choice). I made in a 9x9 pan as others had suggested. That said, the next time I make these, and yes, it will be soon, I will decrease the amount of chocolate, will try 5 T. Carob and 1 T. Hershey's dark cocoa, and I will bake in a 9x13 as the 9x9 made them too thick for our liking. However you like your brownies, I think this recipe will work for you - and being scratch rather than box, you know just what you're eating! Enjoy!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
Absolutely delicious! Used suggestion of another reviewer and browned in hot oil, then transferred to 375 oven for 45 minutes. Also deviated from instructions by dredging in flour alone first, then dipping in egg/milk mixture, and finally coating with crumb mixture before placing in hot oil. Best fried chicken ever!!

Currant Tea Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
My son and his girlfriend made this over the holidays when we were having our "tapas" day! Even though we had been eating most of the day, this loaf disappeared instantly. Cannot comment on how well it keeps, as this loaf didn't even have time to cool! As an aside, they used fresh currants which they had dehydrated! Worked great!

Lori's Famous Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2009
Quite good. I sauteed my veggies, didn't have parsley, forgot the hot sauce (which I will try to remember next time!), used a whole egg, used Old Bay with Lemon and Herb, didn't add the dry mustard or onion powder, added several cloves of garlic (sauteed with veggies), pressed panko bread crumbs on the outside, then cooked on the grill. Served on burger buns. Hubby, daughter, her boyfriend, and I all thought they were very yummy! Will make again!

Rotisserie Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
My first attempt at using the rotisserie on our new gas grill. What a delicious chicken, so moist and tender! Followed suggestions of tying string around legs and wings...thank goodness! Would have been disaster otherwise! Basting sauce is delicious! Try this recipe - you won't be disappointed!
