Summer Beer I

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I followed the recipe exactly & thought it was pretty good & refreshing, but not very flavorful. Next time I will add more lemonade or a couple scoops of powdered concentrate. Don't plan on driving after 1 or 2 of these. 8/19/09, made these again last night. Added 2 tablespoons bottled lemon juice which made this a 5 star recipe.

Basil Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2011
This was absolutely delicious. But it is fitting that basil is the first word in this recipe's name; you can really taste it. I will make again, however I plan on using artificial sweetener to lower the calories.

Pennsylvania Greek Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I lost my recipe from the Erie newspaper for greek sauce and came back to my trusted All Recipes. This is great. I used more tomato sauce b/c I only had a larger can, maybe around 12 oz. instead of 8 oz., added a bit more mustard, red pepper, and a squirt of ketchup. I simmered much longer so the additional liquid was used up and broke up the meat very fine using the "P Chef" "Mix & Chop" (my fav tool for ground beef). Served with Smith's hot dogs and used as a topping for baked steak fries. Delicious! Wish my waistline would allow me to eat like this everyday!

Absolutely the Best Nacho Dip Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2007
I have made this recipe a number of times and am always asked to bring it to get togethers. Sometimes I use light mayo, cream cheese & sour cream and it's still good. Although it may sound strange, the cocktail sauce and cucumbers really work and add to the extremely fresh taste. I like to cut the veggies a day or two ahead of time and refrigerate in containers on paper towels. Seems to keep the dip from getting too watery.

Reuben-Pierogie Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2011
This was so yummy! I used potato and onion peirogies and an additional cup of sauerkraut, just because we like it so much. It is a great variation on my standard pierogie dinner.

Mexican Chicken I

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
Fantastic! I scaled the recipe by half, mixed the beans in with the salsa mixture like other reviewers and baked at 400 for one hour. Turned out great. Topped with a little shredded sharp cheddar and served with sour cream. With Spanish style microwave in the pouch rice, this tasty meal took vey little effort. Will be making again.

Sweet Onion Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2011
I thought this was really delicious with a couple additions. Another review said it needed some spice so I added 3 minced garlic cloves when the onion were almost done cooking. I also added a T. or so fresh parsley, salt (not 1 & 1/2 t.) and pepper to taste. I would probably make this again.

Parma Wrapped Chicken with Mediterranean Vegetables

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
We enjoyed this dish quite a bit. I thought I was all set to make it, but my thyme smelled a little musty so I subbed rosemary, but otherwise kept the recipe the same. My proscuitto slices were almost exactly the same size and my chicken breasts so I just laid them on top instead of wrapping. I quartered the potatoes, but they were still a little firm compared to the other veggies. Next time, I will take other reviewers' suggestions of putting only the taters in first, then adding the veggies & chicken. Next time I would also add baby carrots. All, in all though, this is an easy weeknight dinner and a great way to get a couple of servings of veggies in. Oh! I almost forgot, my sister and I were able to make 4 not 2 meals out of this. Thanks for sharing Betty!

Sweet Pepper Balsamic Bean Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2011
I followed this recipe to a "T" and it it's really good. I'll be having it as side with my cold cut sandwiches for lunch this week. I liked that there was no oil and the only fat comes from the beans. The roasted red peppers really give it something special. Next time, I will add more tomatoes and maybe also a can of garbanzo beans and increase the dressing. Great recipe and very versatile. I could see many different types of bean or peppers in it and it would still be delish. Thanks Kathy.

Green and Bleu Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
I saved this recipe when SunnyByrd used to blog and it is one of the oldest recipes in my recipe box. I finally had the chance to make it and all I can say is DEEEE-lish-ous! I didn't change a thing other than doubling the recipe because I took it to a potluck at work. It was enjoyed by all and one of my coworkers said that "the lovely flavors of the salad danced over her tongue." The next time I make it, I will add a little more oil because the dressing didn't "cling" quite as well as I like. Other than that, fantastic! Great mix of sweet, tart, spicy, crunchy and creamy. A real winner! Thanks SunnyByrd!

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
I've made this dip twice in the last two weeks. The first time I used chive and onion cream cheese and green onions, per other reviewers suggestions. But I forgot the cheddar cheese! The second time I remebered the cheese but I think I prefer it witouth. Awesome recipe!

Key West Penne

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
The look on our faces when we took the first bite said it all. This recipe is completely off the hook. My only changes were 2 chopped garlic cloves added with the shrimp & scallops, I chopped the artichokes & sundried tomatoes and added fresh parsley at the end. I may not add this to my weeknight dinner rotation as the ingredients are expensive, but I will make again. My mouth is watering just thinking about it now.

Mango Milk Shakes

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2012
This was tasty. I used V8 V-Fusion peach-mango juice and Breyer's extra creamy vanilla ice cream. I bet this would be really good with any of the red flavor juice varieties as well.

Caramel-Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
I'm going to first start by saying I didn't follow the directions very well. I forgot to mix the cinnamon with the caramel so I just sprinkled it on top of the apples. Also, I dumped the oats in with the flour, brown sugar and butter instead of mixing it in after. But it still came out really tasty! I used Granny Smith apples like other. Thanks you to DisplacedTexan, another reviewer, for your caramel sauce recipe! I probably ate half an apple dipped in it. Luckily I still had enough for the crisp. This made the kitchen smell wonderful and you can't beat the fact that you only dirty one bowl!

Orangemade

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
Yum, yum, yum! I read another review and thought that I would decrease the sugar as well. What I did was halve the recipe and used 1/4 white sugar and 6 packets of the "pink stuff" to lower the calories. That is equivalent to 1/2 cup sugar. It was plenty sweet enough for me. I used store bought "premium" OJ and fresh squeezed lemon juice. This is a really delicious, refreshing drink and I will definately make it again!

Cold Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
I made this for recipe group and the first thing I want to say about it is that the directions aren't that clear. If the spaghetti is supposed to be cold, shouldn't you rinse it like you do when making a cold pasta salad? Well, that's what I did and then refrigerated it for a couple of hours before eating. When I ate it, I inhaled it. It was good, but you really have to like the ingredients. I don't think it would be universally appealing. With that being said, I'm glad I made it, tried it, & of course ate it. However, I'm not sure I would again unless someone gave me free garden tomatoes. Tomatoes are almost $3 a pound and the peeling and seeding was pretty time consuming & messy.

Joanne's Super Hero Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
This sandwich is excellent! I made no changes other than using sharp provolone cheese which is just personal preference. I made it about 24 hours ahead of time and it held up beautifully. Can't wait to have an occasion to make it again! Thanks for the great recipe!

Pork Chops with Fresh Tomato, Onion, Garlic, and Feta

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
Amazing! The only thing I did differently was used a whole pint of red tomatoes instead of using half yellow. Also, I'm not sure how I forgot the balsamic vinegar, but I did. I will be sure to add next time, but it was still delicious without. Served with rice and green beans and it was a hit!
