Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
This is the recipe used by my mother and grandmother before her. I have been baking pies for 40 years and have never used anything but this wonderful recipe. Use no other shortening other than Crisco. It is always flaky and very easy to handle. I get nothing but compliments on the pastry whenever I serve pies. Also, Fresh Lobster, one cup of shortening IS the proper ratio for two cups of flour in this particular recipe. This is what gives the result of a very flaky pastry. The only thing I would stress is to chill your bowl, pastry cutter, rolling pin, etc. in the freezer before using and store your Crisco in the fridge to keep it ready to use. Excellent recipe!!

Cream of Cauliflower Soup II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
Just not for me, I'm afraid. Cream of Cauliflower soup should be cheesy and not as thick as this turned out. Just a matter of individual taste.

Bumbleberry Pie II

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
Not very good. Haven't had a lot of bumbleberry pies - mostly store bought. I had never made one before and much prefer a store bought one to this one, although I prefer to do my own home baking.

I just finished doing 2 of these omelets. Both of the bags broke in the boiling water. I used good quality zip lock bags and ended up with a watery mess!!

Cheesy Baked Cauliflower

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
I had this recipe years ago and somehow misplaced it. I was glad to find it again. I didn't use a whole cauliflower as there are only 2 of us - just cut up flowerets and steamed them in the microwave for 5 min, then put the toppings on and baked for about 1/2 hr. Hubby loved it!! He said it was the best way he had ever had cauliflower. Good recipe that I will be making again.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Excellent - reminded me of old fashioned rice pudding my mother used to make. I didn't put as many raisins in as called for as it seemed like a lot - just kind of threw some in until it looked right. Served it topped with whipped cream and drizzled with maple syrup. It was great!!

Broccoli Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2008
Excellent comfort food!! I used the suggestions by other reviewers and added crushed fresh garlic, basil, oregano, and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture, but didn't reduce the amount of sour cream called for. I served it with egg noodles, ceasar salad, and garlic bread - EXCELLENT!!

Simply Divine Meat Loaf with Spinach

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2007
Judging by the comments from other reviewers I must have done something wrong (although I don't see how as it is extremely easy to put together). I didn't like the texture or the taste (lack of!!). Would not make this again.
