Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
I have been looking for a lemon bar recipe that is really tart. I love tart lemon bars, but every recipe was too sweet. I also added lemon zest to the crust, and subtracted 2 tablespoons of butter, like a review suggested and it turned out great! I added the rest of the zest from the lemon to the top part of the bars. I was also glad that this recipe was for a 9x13 where most recipes are for a 9x9 pan.

Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2013
The crock pot recipe was great! I made it as one of the desserts for Thanksgiving and this way it didn't take up oven space and we got to eat it warm with ice cream! The balance of spices was perfect. I also added oats to the crumble topping.

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
I was looking for a simple recipe to use up some bananas. This was great! Such simple, basic ingredients that you will have around the house. I was able to make 12 muffins and a mini loaf with this recipe. The muffins were so good right out of the oven and the bread just as good the next day. I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar like some suggested and also added cinnamon and nutmeg. I set my oven temp to 325 and baked for 33 min- they turned out great. This is a keeper!

Brownie Tarts

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
I had no troubles with this recipe. I made no changes to the recipe except the cherries- I didn't use them. I made them for a co-workers birthday and she loved them so much I decided to take them for a house warming party the same weekend. I was asked for the recipe. They had simple ingrediants and were easy to prepare. I made sure to chill the dough for an hour and it helps a lot. It was also faster for me because I have pampered chef tart press. It makes shaping them a breeze! Thanks for this posting!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
This is the second time I have made this recipe. The frist time I made the recipe as it's written, but then it was too runny to pipe onto my cupcakes. I tried adding more sugar, but then it was way too sweet. This second time my friend wanted it for her baby shower cake and I knew that I would need it at piping consistency, so I omitted the milk. That worked great! The fudge and vanilla are plenty of liquid for it. The cake turned out great and everyone loves the frosting. You didn't see any frosting scraped off onto the plate at this party!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

I too changed nothing in this recipe and it turned out great. They are quick and easy (my favorite) and very filling. I will definitely make these again.

Coconut Cream Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
Yummy! This was great! I made it for Easter and everyone loved it, even my sister who doesn't like cake had a 2nd piece. I made a round layer cake and was worried about transfering the cakes after they soaked up the milk mixture, but I didn't have any problems. I coated mine in toasted coconut.

Classic Gingerbread Cutouts

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2010
Made this for a ginger bread house and it worked perfectly! We made ginger bread men out of the remaining dough. I thought we would just have the decorated men to show with the house, but we couldn't stop eating them! They had really great flavor!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I have to agree with most- this recipe is fantastic! It was quick and easy. I didn't find there to be too much butter- but I like buttery treats. I don't usually melt down caramel, but make my own so it seemed like it took forever to melt them down! I took a pan to a work picnic and one to school and both pans got rave reviews.

Pizza Crust II

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
We are on our 2nd half batch of this crust. I get 4 12in crust out of half a recipe. I roll out the crusts onto the pans, cover with plastic wrap and tin foil and then freeze. When we want pizza we just grab one out and put the toppings on and stick it in the oven! Halfway through cooking time I do slide the pizza off the pan and right on to the oven rack because we like a crispy curst. The crust is great and smells like pizza heaven. At first when I read the directions I thought... I don't want to put it in the fridge to rise! Then I watched a Good Eats with Alton Brown and he said the best way to let a pizza crust rise in slowly in the fridge. My dough still tripled in size in just a few short hours in the fridge!

Parmesan Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
We absolutely loved these! They were simple and quick for a weeknight meal. The lemon really is an important ingredient so don't omit it!! I thought it would be a little strange but it was perfect. I served mine with creole sweet potatoes and green beans. These pork chops have become a new favorite in our house.

Carolyn's Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2012
These were VERY good! I didn't end up putting the icing on because everyone loved them right out of the pan! Next time though I will make the rolls thicker because it's what the family is used to as my grandmother's caramel rolls were always 3-4 in high.

Juicy Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
This was the juciest chicken I have ever had. I will never again cook one without the celery! I went to start slicing the breast meat and juice squirted out and hit my cupboard door!

White Velvet Cutouts

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
I always use this as my cutout recipe. The shapes stay perfect and they are easy to make and roll out. They are not as sweet as sugar cookies but frosting them adds plenty of sweetness! I also use almond extract instead of vanilla because we prefer that taste.

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
I love this recipe. I actually use it to make Italian beef. I coat the roast in the spice blend, drizzle with a little olive oil and add 1 cup beef stock to the crock pot and let it cook slowly until it falls apart.

Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2013
This turned out really good. The recipe is a good base to work with. I too, like other reviewers, used frozen hash browns and precooked them for 30 min in oven to get them a little crisp on the bottom. I didn't have sausage, but used bacon instead. I also added 2 extra eggs and seasonings that my family would like. We really enjoyed the texture and cheese flavor. I will definately be making this again and trying it with sausage too.

Caramel Shortbread Squares

These are really good! They are nice and thick- you need a glass of milk with these. They reminded me of a Twix bar. Yummmm :)

Special Cereal Bars I

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2014
We have been making these for years. We use 1c sugar, 1 1/2 c karo, and 2 cups PB to a 12 oz box of Special K. They taste way better this way. We also do a 3:1 ratio for chocolate chips to butterscotch chips.
