Cake Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
I made these with left over cake scraps from 2 cake orders that I had and took the balls into work the next day. I had enough cake left to make a double batch so I made one with chocolate frosting and one with cherry frosting. They were gone quickly and extremely liked! I'm so glad that I have a quick and easy recipe to use left over cake! No more waste in the garbage!

Coconut Cream Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
Yummy! This was great! I made it for Easter and everyone loved it, even my sister who doesn't like cake had a 2nd piece. I made a round layer cake and was worried about transfering the cakes after they soaked up the milk mixture, but I didn't have any problems. I coated mine in toasted coconut.

Pineapple Orange Sorbet

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2009
We liked this sorbet. I did as others said and did 1c orange juice and 1c pineapple juice. Next time I will add less sugar as we would like ours to be more tart. Thanks to other reviewers I knew to let it sit out awhile before serving and it turned out great!

A and Z Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I have made this dip twice and both times it went over great! I served it with bagles cut into 1" pieces. I wasn't able to find Pice de gallo seasoning so I put in a little cilantro, lime juice, and a little salt. Worked just fine- I know I had a hard time stopping eating it.

Black Magic Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2009
Although the cake looks dark chocolate, it was not as rich as I thought it would be. But it was very moist and easy, and still tasted great! I had no issues with sticking because I greased and floured the pan. I used ganache to top my cake. **I had given this a 4 start last night. But I had a slice today and it is so good! Not sure if it made a difference from having the slice warm vs cold. But the chocolate flavor was much more rich the next day with a cold slice. I will be making this cake for a birthday cake I am doing soon.

I too changed nothing in this recipe and it turned out great. They are quick and easy (my favorite) and very filling. I will definitely make these again.

Coconut (Haupia) and Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
I needed a dessert for my mom's birthday gathering. One of her favorite candy bars are mounds. I found this recipe and thought she would like the combination and the recipe seemed pretty easy. I followed the recipe and made no changes. I did chill the pie longer, like another reviewer suggested. After piping the whipped cream on I topped the pie with toasted coconut and chocolate curls. We all really liked the pie and I have noted to make this one again. Next time I want to add more coconut. The chocolate overpowered the coconut a little, but not enough for us to dislike it. I may try to add coconut flakes to the coconut pudding layer before I put the chocolate layer. Can't wait to make this again.

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
This is the second time I have made this recipe. The frist time I made the recipe as it's written, but then it was too runny to pipe onto my cupcakes. I tried adding more sugar, but then it was way too sweet. This second time my friend wanted it for her baby shower cake and I knew that I would need it at piping consistency, so I omitted the milk. That worked great! The fudge and vanilla are plenty of liquid for it. The cake turned out great and everyone loves the frosting. You didn't see any frosting scraped off onto the plate at this party!

Eggless Milkless Butterless Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
I had been pretty busy this week and hadn't had a chance to go to the store for milk or eggs, but wanted something to eat for breakfast. I found this recipe and decided to make it as a coffee cake type breakfast. I don't like rasins so I didn't add them. I would have loved to have added nuts, but didn't have any(I need to go shopping!). I did add a little bit of rum axtract to the boiled mixture and then sprinkled brown sugar and cinnamon on top before baking. Other than that I followed the recipe. The cake was heavy, but it wasn't dry. The taste was great and it filled me up for sure with my cup of coffee! I will make this cake again.

Meatball Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
I really did not care for the flavor of these cookies. I thought the chocolate and spice would be a nice change, but it didn't jive with anybody who tried them. I tried one right out of the oven (they smell really good) and was really disappointed. I thought it would be better once I frosted it, but it only improved a little. I don't think I will make these again.

Orange Drop Cookies II

I love the frosting on these! They really are best fresh though. The cookie has a light flavor and the frosting is a great balance of tart and sweet.

Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
Yum! I could sit and eat these all day long. Quick to put together, but hard to wait the 5-7 days before you can eat them. Well worth the wait though. These will be added to my cookie list every christmas.

Cherry Snowballs

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
These were surprisingly easy to make. Although I don't care for cherries in baked goods, I made them for a christmas cookie tray. They are really beautiful. And others told me they were really good.

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2008
Fast, easy, and turned out fabulous! It was so moist! I was afraid that using under a cup of cocoa it wouldn't be very dark or rich- I was wrong! I made 2 batches for a teired cake and did not have enough vanilla for the second batch, so I used almond. It was really good too. The cake has a small crumb and is great for decorating! Easy to frost and held up really well. It was so moist! I can't get over that. It was still really moist and good the following day too.

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
Unlike some other reviewers I did find this recipe easy! I choose to coat mine with chocolate. I did this because I was bringing them to a party and knew they would be sitting out for a couple of hours and I didn't want them to loose their shape. I also took the advice of other reviewers and only used 2 cups each of sugar and chocolate. I am glad I did because they are rich, but truffles are supposed to be rich. I made three flavors: coffee (by flavoring with instant coffee), coconut (with Malibu Rum), and peppermint (with peppermint schnapps). Once coated I topped each with a different topping so guests could tell the difference of each flavor. I used coffee grinds for the coffee (very small amount), flaked coconut for the coconut, and red sprinkles for the peppermint. I did put them in the fridge before shaping into balls and again for another hour before coating them in chocolate. I also made sure to use a higher quality chocolate to ensure that it melted smoothly. Some lower-end chocolates can melt a little gritty. They turned out great and were gone before I knew it! Guess I didn't need to worry about them loosing their shape!

Chickpea and Pasta Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2007
Simple. I was looking for something quick and easy to make with the things I had on hand. I had some heavy cream that I needed to use too, so I added some of that during the last step of prep. I also didn't have any rosemary on hand, but did have basil leaves so I used two of those instead and removed them before eating. Yummy! I will make this again for a quick meal.

Brownie Tarts

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
I had no troubles with this recipe. I made no changes to the recipe except the cherries- I didn't use them. I made them for a co-workers birthday and she loved them so much I decided to take them for a house warming party the same weekend. I was asked for the recipe. They had simple ingrediants and were easy to prepare. I made sure to chill the dough for an hour and it helps a lot. It was also faster for me because I have pampered chef tart press. It makes shaping them a breeze! Thanks for this posting!

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2007
I was looking for a simple recipe to use up some bananas. This was great! Such simple, basic ingredients that you will have around the house. I was able to make 12 muffins and a mini loaf with this recipe. The muffins were so good right out of the oven and the bread just as good the next day. I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar like some suggested and also added cinnamon and nutmeg. I set my oven temp to 325 and baked for 33 min- they turned out great. This is a keeper!

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2007
I have been looking for a lemon bar recipe that is really tart. I love tart lemon bars, but every recipe was too sweet. I also added lemon zest to the crust, and subtracted 2 tablespoons of butter, like a review suggested and it turned out great! I added the rest of the zest from the lemon to the top part of the bars. I was also glad that this recipe was for a 9x13 where most recipes are for a 9x9 pan.

Coffee Liqueur Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
I will be making these again! They were so easy. I love coffee so I used 2T of the instant coffee and I did disolve in in about 1T of water before adding it. I also took the advice and melted the chocolate in a separte sauce pan, but then I mixed the rest of the ing. in the same pan and then transfered to the baking pan. 20 min was perfect in my oven.
