I live in Wisconsin in the Madison area and work at the American Family Insurance Headquarters as a Payroll Coordinator. I am also currently attending school to recieve my Associate in the Science of Business.
My favorite things to cook
I am 24 year old who loves to bake and really loves to eat baked goods! Both of my grandmothers are really great cooks and I started to adventure into baking when I was in grade school.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my family has me make Cranberry Pudding as our Christmas dessert. Eventhough other family members know how to make the dessert, it is tradition for me to make it. I always hear, "So when are you making the Cranberry Pudding?"
My cooking triumphs
I recently made my little sisters 18th birthday cake. It was my first time using a rolled fondant (got the recipe here) and it turned out mod looking. Just what I was going for! She wanted a swirl cake, but I decided to twist it around and made a checker board layer cake instead. We loved it!
My cooking tragedies
I grew up with a gas stove and oven. When I moved into my apartment in Wisconsin I had an electric range. I burned many things trying to get used to the new heating elements. I definately prefer gas ranges!!

Pineapple Bars
I used fresh pineapple and cut back on the sugar for the filling. Next time I will add some cinnamon to the crumble as we thought it lacked. I may also use butter versus the shortening to add better flavor to the crumble. But we love pineapple so it was still a hit with us!

Special Cereal Bars I
We have been making these for years. We use 1c sugar, 1 1/2 c karo, and 2 cups PB to a 12 oz box of Special K. They taste way better this way. We also do a 3:1 ratio for chocolate chips to butterscotch chips.

Gooey Butter Cookies
These were nice and soft. The powdered sugar made a nice gloss "crust" to the cookie. I also used a butter cake box mix for mine to add the extra butter flavor. I decided to stir in toffee pieces too to make a butter toffee cookie, but I can see how you could change the cake mix or stir ins easily. They were simple, fast, and yummy. My kind of cookie!
