This recipe was weird and I would not make it again. The sauce got way too thick and I didn't think it would permeate the pie at all, since most of it remained on top and cooked to a crisp. However, the pie turned out all right and I found that you could mix the hard caramelly top into your piece of pie on your plate as you ate it--I know, weird. The only thing I changed was adding a tsp. of cinnamon; I was very worried at the lack of apple pie spices in the recipe. Because of how it looked in the oven, I was prepared to give it a one-star rating but upped it a little because it tasted ok, although rather sweet. We did follow the recipe to a T, and were fooled like many others by the high ratings. So--if you have a tried and true recipe--DO NOT TRY THIS RECIPE!!!
