Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2012
My husband loved this so it is a winner. I left out the peppers since I didn't have any.

Chipotle Guacamole

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2012
I followed it as written except I halved it and used dried chipotle powder instead of adobo sauce. I thought it was very good.

Chipped Beef on Toast

Reviewed: May 1, 2012
Perfect. I only made it on the stovetop instead of in the microwave oven, and added a dash of Worcestershire sauce on each toast half. My family and I gobbled it up! Thanks!

Buttery Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: May 1, 2012
This was very good. I did 1/4 of the recipe since I only needed a small amount. Added several good twists of freshly ground sea salt and black pepper and several dashes of dried basil; left out the fontina and used a little water instead of the whole milk. Also used 1 clove garlic, finely chopped, instead of minced garlic. Delicious!! :)

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Followed exactly as written except made the gravy in a separate pan using 2 Tb butter w/ the 2 Tb reserved flour and the milk. My iron skillet burns after a while and the gravy wouldn't have turned out if I'd made it in there (the same pan I fried the meat in). Maybe it's just because I'm pregnant and highly sensitive to tastes and smells right now, but I thought there was way too much pepper in this recipe. The steaks are seasoned with salt and pepper, dredged twice each in a flour mixture w/ 1 teaspoon of pepper, then the gravy is made using reserved flour from the coating and you're supposed to add an additional 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper. I added 1/4 teaspoon. Like I said, WAY too much pepper. Maybe all the other reviewers said this--I don't know because I didn't read any reviews--but future recipe triers beware.

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
Absolutely delicious! It's similar to my special potato soup recipe with the chicken stock and dill weed. The only thing I substituted was green onions for the leeks.

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

I made it exactly as called for. The whole family agrees this is wonderful! Probably the best home made steak sauce I've ever had.

Taco Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2008
I tried this because of the high rating and was not disappointed! I added 4 oz. extra cheese and one jalapeno and one banana pepper chopped; I used green onions; I used homemade refried beans; and I left out the olives. Everyone liked it!

Catfish Saint James

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2008
I followed the recipe exactly but only made half of it since I had less catfish than it called for. I really enjoyed the spice combination, and it turned out great! Thanks for sharing!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2008
This recipe was weird and I would not make it again. The sauce got way too thick and I didn't think it would permeate the pie at all, since most of it remained on top and cooked to a crisp. However, the pie turned out all right and I found that you could mix the hard caramelly top into your piece of pie on your plate as you ate it--I know, weird. The only thing I changed was adding a tsp. of cinnamon; I was very worried at the lack of apple pie spices in the recipe. Because of how it looked in the oven, I was prepared to give it a one-star rating but upped it a little because it tasted ok, although rather sweet. We did follow the recipe to a T, and were fooled like many others by the high ratings. So--if you have a tried and true recipe--DO NOT TRY THIS RECIPE!!!
