Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This is my go to recipe for corned beef. It was great. I did cook my 3 1/2 lb roast beef on low for 9 hours and it was fork tender. I didn't add the cabbage until the last hour and it was plenty tender.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Great texture. Just a little to spicy once cooked so I would add one or the other of the peppers. We didn't have a problem with it being to sweet, I checked on our regular store bought sauce and sugar is the second ingredient which surprised me.

Roasted Okra

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2011
I like Okra, and I hate black pepper but I made this recipe as stated and I L-O-V-E it. We will be growing Okra in our garden this year and this is so fast we will be going to it time and again.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
The shreadding is very time consuming. I did it the first time I made them but now I usually just quarter them. Other than that this is a fantastic recipe and we serve it quite a bit. I also leave out the pine nuts unless I have them on hand. I don't really think it adds a lot to the recipe if you would like to leave them out.

Breaded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
My husband and I don' like mushy brussel sprouts so I sauted them instead of boiling, letting them steam alittle and then followed the directions. That being said we did not enjoy the flavor or the texture of these at all. It kinda felt like sand covering your brussel sprouts and I don't think it lended to much flavor to the end product considering Brussel Sprouts have such a strong flavor on their own.

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
These are The Pancake recipe. We really loved it. Great pancake very tender but not airy. Mine also rose wonderfully. Defintely worth buying the quart of Buttermilk to make them right.

CopyCat Starbucks Classic Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
I had to make this lactose free so I used lactose free whole milk instead of half and half and margerine. While I think it would be even better with the richness of half and half and butter it was very good with the changes I made.

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
I screwed up and didn't read the directions closely enough and added the herbs to the bread. Just as I was about to add the salt to the dough I looked at the recipe again and saw what I did wrong. That being said I didn't think it made a big difference. My husband said it wasn't bad for buisquick which is a huge compliment.

Rustic Round Herb Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
I made this in my cast iron skilit and it made for a very nice presentation. I know this is going to sound a little crazy but we thought it was a little to herby. May just add the sage and dill or thyme and dill next time. This would probably taste great with italian seasonings as well.

Campfire S'mores Smash

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
I prefer real s'mores. While it tasted good it made a mess that was very hard to clean out of my cast iron without ruining my seasoning. It also didn't have the emphasis on marshmellow like regular smores have which is why I'm rating it with 4 stars. If I make this again I'll be lining my pan with aluminum foil.

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
This was very good but it tasted more like flavored hot milk instead of a latte. If you could add more of a concentrated coffee flavor It would be better. I will be making this again but just as flavored milk. Might be something the kids could have to make them feel special.

Homemade Gumdrops

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
These are a great little candy. Just like gumdrops. Due to some of the reviews saying they were sugary I was worried that all the sugar would not disolve when I boiled the mixture. I made it just like stated and had no problems. I'm not sure what they ment by sugary but these are gumdrops they are not ment to be healthy. I have also left these out on the counter for a week now in air tight conatiners and they are as fresh as the day I made them.

French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2010
I thought this soup was great. Due to my own preferences I used asiago bread and provolone cheese. I didn't do it this time but I like floating croutons instead of a whole slice of bread it makes it easier to eat.

Tart Cherry Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
I had a pound of fresh sour cherries so I decided to use thoes. Because I only had a pound I halved the rest of the recipe. I thought it was really good but the tapioca was soft but it did leave a texture that I didn't particularly care for. My favorite is to use about a tablespoon of liquid pectin for a thickener. I also used one crust and made cut outs so you could see the berries. The brown sugar really gave it a subtle richness. I'll be making again with frozen cherries most likely.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
This recipe is excellent! I thought it was salty like many of the reviewers said. I used 1 tablespoon of extra course like the kind you get for salt grinders and mixed everthing in my morter and pestle I think I would cut the salt in half next time. I'm still rating it 5 stars because I really think this recipe is that good. Even with it being salty we still ate them all. They are also great cold left overs or on a salad.

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
Very good flavor however we used legs and they were very greasy. I followed the recipe exactly so I think I would prefer it with skinless breasts or like the author suggested as a marinade for a whole chicken instead.

Delicious Sweet and Buttery Bananas

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
This is G-O-O-D! I thought a cup of sugar would have been way to sweet so I added 2 TBS in all and it was just right. My husband and I immediately started thinking of things we could put it on like french toast, pancakes, vanilla yogurt, ice cream, shortcake, well you get the idea. Great little treat.

Mexican Shepherd's Pie

Yumm. I put green chilies in the cornbread like someone suggested and thought it was great. I only used one box of Jiffy mix and wish I would have used two like many people said. I also put refried beans in the bottom of my pan to streatch the meal. Great Dinner.

Guy Approved Meatloaf

My hubby said it was ok but I thought it was bleck. Needs much help. Very firm and not very juicy at all. It is the kind of Meatloaf that gives meatloaf a bad name in my book.
