Dutch Babies II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2013
This was just OK for me. I've made other Dutch Babies that were really great as a stand alone item, this one relied too heavily on the baked apples I paired with it to have any flavor. Not bad, but not great. It did puff up nicely and had a good texture though.

Cinnamon-Apple Chex® Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
My grandma really liked this a lot - I used yogurt covered cranberries instead of the raisins as a matter of preference. A nice addition to the snack mix collection!

Cheddar-Thyme Flaky Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2008
These were just OK to me. I'm wondering if the sugar is a typo, because they seemed really sweet. Not the buttery/flaky biscuits I was hoping for.

Flourless Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2008
What a wonderful cake! Very rich and fudgy, so a little goes a long way. I baked it an additional 5 min. since it didn't seem to have set up all the way, with no adverse affects. Served with vanilla ice cream and sliced stawberries - tastes just like the Torta di Chocotale at Olive Garden! Definite keeper!

Three-Layer Chocolate Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
These weren't anything to be impressed with. Not very chocolatey and much more like a cake in texture than a brownie. The frosting was the only saving grace for these. The oatmeal layer was rather bland as well. I did spread some melted peanut butter over one half of the brownies before topping with the chocolate to try something different and that did add a bit of flavor, but they were still lacking overall. I won't be making these again.

Moist Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
Simple recipe with great results. Drizzled the finished cake with a simple glaze (1.5c powdered sugar, 3T. milk) as opposed to sprinkling with powdered sugar. Will definitely make again!

Pecan Crusted Chocolate Truffle Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
The crust is a "5", the filling is a "4" - almost too rich (and I never thought I'd meet a rich dessert I didn't like!) A tiny slice is all you need.

St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
I was so excited to find this recipe! A now defunct local restaurant used to serve a similar item, and my husband loved it. Now we can have them whenever we want! Great with the alfredo sauce recipe by alfanno2 from this site, or your marinara sauce of choice.

Disappointing. Not nearly as flavorful as I had hoped.

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Made this to go in a recipe that called for cream corn when I was out and didn't feel like going to the store (just not worth loading the kiddos up to go to the store for one thing!) I tasted some before I added it to the recipe and thought it was great. I'll be sure to make it as a side sometime.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Makes a good cinnamon roll, but I didn't think they were anything above average. Then again, I've never had a real cinnabon, so who knows...

Grandma's Orange Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Very tasty, but they took longer to rise than stated, and I was using a fresh jar of yeast and my oven was already on, so I know my kitchen was warm enough. Otherwise a great recipe. Topped with orange cream cheese frosting from this site.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Very tasty. Stored unconvered the topping maintains its crisp texture, and about 15 sec. in the microwave gives you a nice warm muffin in the morning.

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Very easy and very rich. I made these as part of a "thank you" treat bag that I handed out to a group at church, and this was definitely the most complimented item out of everything I made. I used a 1/2 inch cookie scoop to make the balls, froze them for about an hour, then rolled them with my hands to smooth out the rough edges before dipping in the chocolate. Drizzling with melted white chocolate makes them look fancier - everyone thought these were really complicated until I told them there are only 3 ingredients! That's my kind of recipe!

Caramel Corn Snack Mix

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Very addictive! I used dry roasted peanuts since I have a friend that's allergic to pecans, and accidentally baked it an extra 15 minutes (reading way too many recipes = getting a bit confused!) but I think that helped cut down on the sticky factor. I drizzled melted milk chocolate on it and it tasted just like Poppycock. I did forget to put in the rice cereal (oops!) Oh well, I guess that means I'll have to make this again!

Wedding Cake Icing

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
Very tasty! I had to use butter flavor Crisco since it was all I had on hand and it still tasted great, although it was no longer a "white" icing, which was OK since I was coloring the icing anyway. Will definitely use again!

Sandy's Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
What a wonderfully moist cake! I made it into cupcakes for a baby shower filling paper lined muffin tins 2/3 full and baking for 17-19 minutes - they turned out great! Instead of using the regular chocolate for the frosting I substituted white chocolate (I wanted to be able to color it to match the shower colors) and I think it added a nice twist. I will definitely use this again!

Easy Raspberry Lemonade

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
I really enjoyed this lemonade. I had made it before, and decided to use it for a baby shower - everyone enjoyed it. It can seem a bit tart to some people at first sip, but everyone seemed to enjoy it.
