About this Cook
I'm single and love to cook. If I don't have exactly what the recipe calls for, I improvise, usually with impressive results.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking soups, stews and anything in a casserole or crockpot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in a meat and potatoes household with basically the same weekly meals. I still go back to old standbys like meatball stew and pizza casserole when I'm in need of comfort food.

Scottish Shortbread IV
Just like my Scottish grandmother used to make! I used 3 cups of flour, and rolled the dough out to 1/2 thickness, then used a shot glass to cut out circles. I placed half of a red glacé cherry on top (like my dad used to do). They turned out buttery, with just the right consistency; not too crunchy, not too soft. Perfect!

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini
I just finished eating this, and I'm still savouring the wonderful flavours in my mouth! I was concerned that it might be too much pepper, but it was just the right amount for me. I omitted the parsley and the wine because I didn't have them on hand, and instead added a little extra water. Delish!

Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast
OMG! I'm not a beef eater usually, but my roommate is, so I bought a blade roast on sale. I followed the recipe, only substituting the chicken broth for vegetable broth (it's all I had on hand), and it turned out perfectly. I made a plate up for my neighbour who was feeling ill, and I got a voice message from her saying only this: 'YUM,YUM,YUM,YUM,YUM,YUM...!' I served garlic mashed potatoes with the gravy and it was delicious. The browning of the meat made all the difference, I think. Thank you for posting this!
