Blackened Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
I did not love this recipe. I followed it exactly and I still found it rather bland. Everyone likes and dislikes different things and this is a dish I simply won't be making again. I did however love the amount of calories.

Busy Day Barbeque Brisket

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
Just made this tonight, it really was delicious. My only problem was that it came out a bit dry. My brisket was first cut (already lean to begin with), just under 3lbs, and I cooked it on low in the slow cooker for 8 hours exactly. Next time I will use second cut for a juicer result. The flavour was fantastic (I used Diana Sauce, honey garlic) and I can't wait to have it in a challah roll for lunch tomorrow! I also seared the sides in a bit of oil prior to putting it in the slow cooker, made for some really nice edges!

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
This recipe is 5 stars! Actually, it's 10 stars! This is the ONLY recipe I will continue to use. The only change I make is swapping out half of the vegetable oil for unsweetened apple sauce (makes it super moist too!!) and I use 1 cup of white sugar 1 cup of brown - I also add a bit of extra cinnamon and I grate the carrots with a smaller microplane by hand, saving half of the juice that I then re-add to the batter.

Awesome Spicy Beef Kabobs OR Haitian Voodoo Sticks

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
I made these last summer and I've been meaning to review them ever since! These kabobs were incredible. They flavor they produce is a 10/10. I used the wrong kind of beef (mistakenly picked up stewing beef) and they were very tough. It was my mistake and next time I will use a good sirloin. Other than that this is an amazing recipe and I look forward to making it again!!

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2012
This recipe is one of the reasons I love All Recipes so much! This is a five star rating, and one that is well deserved!!!!! I did make a few on the spot modifications but I really do owe all the credit to Robbie for posting this! I used 2lbs of fresh tiger shrimp. The changes I made were as follows: I didn't have any fresh lemons on hand so I used bottled lemon juice (I put about the juice of 1.5 lemons. I used Frank's Red Hot for the hot sauce, and I added a few squirts of Sirracha sauce (Rooster Sauce) because I like things spicy! I added about an extra tbsp of tomato paste, eyeballed the salt and pepper and I added about 2 tablespoons of hot paprika. This was made as an appetizer for my housewarming bbq and it was the biggest hit of the night. I skewered three shrimp per skewer and the were all gone in not even 10 minutes. Thanks again Robbie, I'll be making this for many years to come!

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
I love to make cupcakes and I have been searching forever for the perfect recipe. I've made countless batches of bland, flavorless, dense cupcakes. This recipe is simply amazing. The cake stays moist and the top crisps up just a bit, giving the overall cupcake a great bite! I made these last night for a Bachelorette party I'm hosting this weekend (I put the in the freezer until Saturday morning) and I tried them without icing them first and thought they were fabulous on their own. I didn't change the recipe at all (only doubled it to make 24) and it was perfect. Thanks for sharing this with us! It's going in my book!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
Wow, wow, wow, wow, WOW! I rarely rate recipes but this was too good not to! I made this for a dinner party for 10 I threw on Saturday night and it was the highlight of the evening! Everyone went nuts for it. The only thing I did differently was the Italian sausage - I left it out. Thank you for this recipe, it was killer!

Emily's Famous Hash Browns

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
These are very similar, if not identical to patatoe latkas (patatoe pancakes). These do come out very well, though I would suggest adding some salt and pepper into the batter for some flavor. And A LOT less oil. I used under 1/2 a cup and still had to drain oil out of the hash browns. Otherwise, these are awesome. Thanks
