Icebox Sugar Cookies

Very nice. Not too sweet, not to crispy or chewy. Perfect amounts of all of the above.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2011
I have had this recipe saved for a long while, but only just got around to trying it out, today. I have to say it was really good. Definitely something I'll be making again. I did substitute yogurt for the buttermilk, as I had no buttermilk. It worked just fine, and still tasted delicious.

Potato and Cheese Pierogi

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2007
I made some of these directly according the recipe, some with green onions added and some were fried instead of boiled. the boiled ones without onions were a little bland--not the filling really but the dough was a little lacking in flavor. The fried ones were more flavorful and I definitely liked them better. The onions were a nice addition but I liked the ones without onions too. :)

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2011
Very tasty. I added a touch more cinnamon and probably did not need all the butter, but it was very delicious. I made it for my mum-in-law, who is visiting from overseas and she asked for the recipe.

Tortillas I

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I've tried many tortilla recipes on this site and this is honestly the first one that had a taste even remotely close to what I wanted or liked. I really like the texture of these and they're very easy to make. Thanks for sharing. =)

Vanilla Crepes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2008
I'm giving this one five stars because the taste is great. I have never had a problem with greasiness but I did find the batter was way too thick and needed quite a bit of additional milk. We like our crepes quite thin so the batter has to be only slightly thicker than cream. This batter seemed more like pancake batter at first but I've made them several times so now I just plan for additional milk and they're perfect. Great with strawberries or some other filling. :)

Pumpkin Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2012
This was delicious. I scaled the spices to my personal taste ( a little less ginger, a little less cloves and nutmeg, and a touch more cinnamon) and it was perfect. I didn't find it too sweet though I can see how people might if they're not fond of sweet things to start with. I think the recipe could benefit from an added note encouraging people to spice and sweeten to taste. I also wasn't sure how thick it was supposed to be, as this was my first time making it. It would be great if the recipe had a guide to how much it should thicken. Overall, it is really tasty. I have it jarred and refrigerated and have no worries about if it'll be used up within a week. =)

Cheese Garlic Biscuits II

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
The taste was there, but they didn't have quite the texture I was looking for. They weren't quite as soft and flakey as I wanted. They still tasted great, though.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
Very good cookies. I thought at first that the dough would be too soft but it rolled out beautifully. The cookies puffed up but kept their shape and have a wonderful, soft texture. I followed the recipe exactly. Definitely will save it to make again. :)

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2008
I've made this cake dozens of time, usually with either oil or butter (whichever is more convenient) and think it's a fabulous recipe. But recently since I happened to have shortening on hand when I made it, I used that since it is in the original recipe. I was actually a little disappointed with the cake texture and immediately went back to oil the next time around since it gives it the best texture (moist and not too dense or gummy) in my opinion. Overall, this is my favorite cake recipe and the one I consistently turn to when I need to bake.
