About this Cook
I'm a fantasy artist originally from Texas though now living a good distance away from home with my husband and son. After marrying a Bulgarian guy with a taste for international cuisine, I--the girl who knew only how to cook generic American dishes and a few Tex-mex dishes--had to really learn a whole new world of cooking. It's been fun to experiment and get acquainted with food from other places though. :)
My favorite things to cook
I especially like cooking ethnic and International cuisine--namely, dishes originating from central to eastern europe, traditional Jewish dishes, Middle Eastern and Asian dishes as well. But I do like to cook American food too sometimes! I also love baking pretty much anything (but especially things that are sweet). :D
My cooking triumphs
I consider it a triumph every time a dish turns out right and I come through the experience uninjured. The getting the dish right part happens more often than not; the keeping myself uninjured...well, I'm working on that one. ;)
My cooking tragedies
Ha! There are probably far too many of these to recount and they range from failed (okay, okay, *miserably* failed) dishes to kitchen injuries that have left large, permanent scars. It's a wonder people still trust me with sharp objects. :D

Pumpkin Butter
This was delicious. I scaled the spices to my personal taste ( a little less ginger, a little less cloves and nutmeg, and a touch more cinnamon) and it was perfect. I didn't find it too sweet though I can see how people might if they're not fond of sweet things to start with. I think the recipe could benefit from an added note encouraging people to spice and sweeten to taste. I also wasn't sure how thick it was supposed to be, as this was my first time making it. It would be great if the recipe had a guide to how much it should thicken. Overall, it is really tasty. I have it jarred and refrigerated and have no worries about if it'll be used up within a week. =)

Triple Berry Crisp
Very tasty. I added a touch more cinnamon and probably did not need all the butter, but it was very delicious. I made it for my mum-in-law, who is visiting from overseas and she asked for the recipe.

Kentucky Butter Cake
I have had this recipe saved for a long while, but only just got around to trying it out, today. I have to say it was really good. Definitely something I'll be making again. I did substitute yogurt for the buttermilk, as I had no buttermilk. It worked just fine, and still tasted delicious.
