About this Cook
I'm a stay at home father, ex-cook/manager/etc. for a fairly well known greasy spoon cafe in Seattle, Mensan, huge Frank Zappa fan, and avid home cook.
My favorite things to cook
Udon soup, onigiri, tonkatsu, meat pies, whole turkeys (so many dishes from one bird!), lentil loaf, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My extended family usually sticks to traditional german farmer type dishes or costco party platter type stuff. Nothing fancy, and in the past few years have pretty much stopped that and just made skinless chicken or fish for family gatherings, along with salad and some veggies to snack on. Not interesting really. I'm a little more varied in my cooking. For my own family i've got table top burner and a nice donabe and we sit down together and have nabe once a week.
My cooking triumphs
I spent over 6 months making 12 egg omelette's every day, several of them. If that's not a feat, I don't know what is. YOU try flipping a 12 egg omelette that's full of sour cream, salsa, chili, and melted cheese without breaking it. No, really, go ahead.
My cooking tragedies
See my cooking triumphs.

Favorite Lentil Soup
i had to add about 2 cups of veggie broth because, following the recipe exactly, it was way too thick, but it came out fantastic!!! definitely making this at least every other week until next spring!
