Cinnamon-Raisin Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
A delicious breakfast treat! I made a few changes to make it a little healthier for breakfast. I used 1/3 cup (instead of 2/3) cups) sugar; I substituted apple butter for all but 1 TBSP of the oil; and I used vanilla yogurt instead of the plain (to make up for the sugar that i took out). But, it turned out AWESOME!

Polynesian Coleslaw

This is a great alternative to the heavy mayonnaise-coleslaw. I used green bell peppers instead of red (which was also good) and I toasted the sesame seeds before I mixed them in.

Banana Crumb Muffins

I subbed in apple butter for half the butter-butter (to make it a little bit less oily...plus it gives the muffins a little extra spice!)

Shepherd's Pie II

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2008
To make it simpler, you can use instant potatoes. Also, instead of peas, I put in green beans (just for something different). And, the best tip...add a little shredded Chedder on during the last five minutes of so...delicious!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
I was hoping to find the perfect snickerdoodle recipe and this was it! Make sure to refrigerate the dough before you plan to bake the cookies. It makes it much easier to roll the dough into perfect balls and the ideal snickerdoodle shape!

Galette des Rois

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
This is a really simple and delicious way to make this cake. If you don't want to spend the $8 dollars to buy a tube of almond paste, you can make your own before hand. To make enough paste for this galette, I mixed together in the food processor: *1/2 cup unsalted slivered baking almonds (until they are finely chopped or close to powder), then add *1/4 powdered sugar *1/4 white sugar *1/4 almond extract *1/8-1/4 cup water (to make consistency of paste). Refrigerate before putting onto cake bottom.

Cheese Souffles

THIS RECIPE WAS FANTASTIC! Like everyone, I was very worried about making my first souffle, but they turned out SO well! Definitely make sure to grease the outside of the dish with butter, it really helps to keep souffle appearances up :)

Potato-Topped Chili Loaf

Big fan of this recipe! Adds a little something something to the traditional meatloaf recipe. Also, I added a little bit of garlic to the meat, and some cilantro to the topping...a great addition!
