Cream of Mushroom Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2010
Oh my goodness, this was delicious!! Exactly like La Madeleine, which my 10 year old daughter loves. I used regular white mushrooms. If you want to be totally decadent, use all cream, but serve in small portions becuase it's so rich. Also be mindful of hot food in the blender; I cracked the top a bit to let the steam out and just pulsed so no explosion would occur. Great recipe, thanks so much!

Slider-Style Mini Burgers

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2010
These were great! Better than I expected. I did not have onion soup mix, so I threw in some dried onion flakes and a splash of Worcestershire for flavor. Easy and delicious. In fact, they were even better as leftovers.

Spiced Sweet Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
This is great! Just whipped this up in the blender and I can't wait to taste it again after it has refrigerated for a while. Two changes: I used lime juice because I did not have lemon (did not seem to affect the flavor); and like another reviewer, I did not have tahini so I substituted with 1 T. sesame oil, and it worked great. Thanks for the great recipe!

Beef Bulgogi

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
This was delicious. I marinated for a full 24 hours, and the meat was very flavorful and super tender. I stir fried instead of grilled. Because I did not want to waste the delicious sauce, I added a slurry of water/cornstarch at the end to thicken and serve over rice. The whole family loved it! Thanks for sharing.

Cream Puffs

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Wow. These were so easy and delicious. I had lots of leftover filling that I had put in a makeshift pastry bag using a ziptop bag with a corner snipped off that I kept in the fridge. My husband would sneak into the kitchen several times a day and give himself a little squirt of it until it was all gone!! You will love this.

Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
This is a great soup. My whole family loved it. I made a few minor changes: I used canned tomatoes instead of fresh, and omitted the tomato sauce because of the canned tomatoes. I omitted the green pepper just for personal preference (picky kids). Tastes even better leftover! Thanks for sharing.

Sweet Coated Pecans

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
These are excellent. I made this with whole almonds. My changes: I used 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar; only 1 T water; added a splash of vanilla; and the zest from 1/2 an orange. Very yummy. Try this, you won't be disappointed.

Let me preface this review by saying that I hate lowfat baked goods. But, this recipe sounded pretty promising, so I tried it, and I am so glad I did. These are moist, flavorful, and I'll definitely make them again. Try them, you won't be disappointed. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2009
I really wanted to love this recipe because it's so easy and how bad can wine and gravy mix be? I was disappointed in the flavor of the sauce as well as the consistency; I had to boil it for a few minutes to get it to a decent consistency after I removed from the oven. The color of the meat from the red wine was also unappealing. Thank you for sharing, but I won't be making this again.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
This cake was absolutely delicious and everyone loved it. I made several changes: I used 3 cups of powdered sugar for the frosting; it was plenty sweet.I baked the cake for 5 more minutes than called for because my toothpick test was a tad runny; an additional 5 minutes was perfect at that point. Finally, I did not freeze it; I felt it was an unnecessary step, and my cake was very moist without it. Definitely a keeper, thanks so much for sharing!!

Mom's Great Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2009
These were easy and tasty. I used fresh green beans just because we like them better than canned. I put the beans in a pot and put in water to approximate the amount that would have been in a can. I added the other ingredients and brought to a boil, then covered the pot and "steamed" them. Very good, a definite keeper. Even good leftover too. Kids loved them.

Chicken Wing Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2009
This tasted great and is definitely a keeper. Adjust the heat to your liking with more or less hot sauce, which I do depending on whether it will be served to kids or not. Mine don't like spicy food. I personally like more heat.

Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
This was a basic but really good chili recipe. Just what I was looking for. I used 1 pound ground beef and one pound ground turkey, and omitted the green pepper, but followed the recipe otherwise. The hubby loved it. Will definitely make again!
