Ambrosia Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I made this for a brunch a couple of days ago. I followed the directions exactly. It was good. Tasted like I remembered when my Mom made it years ago. The only thing I would change if I made it again would be to decrease the sour cream slightly. It gets a little runny after sitting in the fridge overnight. :(

Oven-Baked Caramel French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I made this for a brunch a couple of days ago. I was a little worried b/c I had never done a test run before... The only difference I made is that I bought two loaves of french bread (the long narrow kind at the grocery store) & cut both up to equal two layers of bread in the pan. Other than that, I followed the directions exactly. It was soooo good. Everyone went for seconds & said they loved it. Thanks for the recipe. I would give it ten stars if I could!

Cranberry, Sausage and Apple Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I just made this today for us to take to the in-laws tomorrow... OMG is it delicious!!! I used the Bob Evans Sage sausage & it is a tasty edition. I also used onions instead of leeks. Other than that, I used the rest of the ingrediants as listed... I cooked it outside of the turkey, so I ended up using 2 cups of chicken broth. I highly recommend this recipe. It is easy & like I said, delicious!

Cherry Pie IV

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
I made this with high hopes... It didn't live up to them, unfortunately. The only cherries I could find (frozen) were sweet, dark cherries. I have a baby and didn't really have time to buy fresh cherries and pit all of them. Something was off in the flavor. Not too sweet though. Considering I used sweet cherries and the called-for amount of sugar in this recipe. I used already-made pie crust. But I always do that! It's sooo much easier for me. If I ever have more time I will definitely try and use fresh cherries. Just wanted everyone to know - BEWARE of the frozen, dark, sweet cherries.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
This was very good. But for anyone who is planning on making it - please (as others here have suggested) make a little extra sauce. And DO NOT USE the oven ready noodles. I did it to save a little time. Mistake. Unless you have enough sauce to cover all of the noodle the ends stick out and are as hard and brittle as can be. Oh well. I would like to make this again. I will not use 12 noodles if I do. Another reviewer suggested 9. That would be perfect. Also, if you like ricotta cheese (I love it) you may want to buy the 2lb. container instead of just a pint. Maybe use half of that. The sauce was yummy. I think it needs to be a little spicier. Of course that's a personal preference. I will definitely try to make this again.

Mandi's Cheesy Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
I would give this 10 stars if I could. It is very easy to prepare and tastes like something you would get out at a restaurant! It's that good. The only change I made was that I used soy milk (unsweetened) because that's the kind of milk I have on hand. I added chopped bacon right before serving it. A delicious addition. Also a little green onion. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good potato and cheese soup!

Vegan Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
I just took these out of the oven 15 minutes ago... they are great! I made them mostly for my daughter (who is allergic to milk and eggs) to try. But I couldn't help trying them after they were out of the oven 10 minutes... :) I didn't modify the recipe at all. From what I can tell - there's no need to. Thanks for the recipe!!!

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
This pie was very easy and yummy!!! I took the suggestions of several other peoples' reviews... I added 5 T of cornstarch, turned oven down to 400 degrees, used 1/2 cup each of white and brown sugar and omitted the butter. It baked for 50 minutes and turned out wonderfully. My husband loves blueberry pie (I made it for him) and he loved this recipe. Thanks, Beth!

Wacky Cake VIII

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
I'm making this in the form of cupcakes for my daughter's 1st birthday party. She is allergic to milk and eggs. So this is perfect! I did a trial run last night and these taste just like regular cake to me and my husband. Not so with some other recipes I've been trying... The recipe makes about 15 cupcakes. They baked for 25 min at 375. Came out just perfect. I used Pillsbury's cream cheese icing to frost them. It's milk and egg free too. Who would have thought? Thanks so much for this recipe. I'm sure it will be a hit this weekend!!! :)

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I made this for the first time for Thanksgiving this year. Everyone who had it loved it! It was very easy to make. I followed the advice of another reviewer who said to place the pie crust with the cream cheese layer in the fridge while preparing the other pumpkin layer. This helped the two layers to stay separate and not ooze into one! I will definitely make this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
I made this for Thanksgiving this year. My mother makes a cranberry sauce that is much sweeter than this one. She uses 3 cups of sugar and 1/4 cup water with her 12 oz. cranberries!!! This is just perfect with the one cup of sugar and the OJ. Very tasty. Not too sweet! I just cooked mine longer than 10 minutes because not all of the berries had burst yet. They are sooo tart when whole. Very tasty and very easy to make!

I found this recipe to just be okay. Not much flavor. Consistency was great though. Maybe it needs more spices?

Beef Cabbage Stew

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2007
I made this last night for myself and my husband. It was very easy. Make sure to cut the potatoes into fairly small pieces, otherwise it takes longer to get them tender than is stated in the recipe. Tasty. Wish it had a little more flavor. I may just try to use concentrated beef broth next time instead of the bouillon. Will make again. Does get a bit mushy. Maybe that's because I had to cook it a pretty long time to get the potatoes tender. Oh well.
