Flatlander Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2015
Really like this recipe. I've grown up making chili and I always cooked the onions, celery and bell pepper until it was tender before adding the rest. In the fall it's fun to roast a hatch pepper and peel it and dump it into the chili. It doesn't increase the heat that much. I also experiment with different chili powders. We really like chipotle chile flavor. I love club crackers in my chili and my husband says no way. Well we both can eat chili for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great recipe. We always have cornbread with lots of honey with our chili. Thanks.

Fruity Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2014
My Husband, Son and DIL all raved about this recipe. I even got a "This is the best chicken salad I have ever had". I agree it was great made just as it was written. I cheated a little by using a store bought rot. chicken. Oh well. This was fast and easy. I served it with big croissants from Sam's bakery. Thank you for giving us this recipe.

Cotechino and Braised Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2013
Thank you Chef John. I was looking for something different to do with my black eye peas on New Years day and found this recipe. I added 1/2 package of 15 bean soup and the rest of the black eye peas. It was delicious. It was a hit.. who knew! Thanks again. Oh, I found the cotechino at a little gourmet spice in Oklahoma City. It was wrapped the same way.

Microwave Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Loved the Curd. Here's what I did. I took half of the curd and beat a half of a package of cream cheese into it. I baked Pepperidge Farms puff pastry shells, let them cool, removed the cap from the shell and filled them with the curd and cream cheese mixture. I topped each shell with the plain curd. I put each shell on a small white dessert plate and dropped another dollop of curd beside it in a little design. Made me feel like a gourmet chef. Ha! Thanks so much for the recipe. Oh, I caught my Mother-in-Law eating the left overs with a gigantic spoon.

Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2010
Oh My Gosh these smelled so good baking that I almost ate one when they came out of the oven. I made them just like the recipe and my Molly loved them. I found Martha Stewart dog cookie cutters at Petsmart last weekend. They were in a set of three (small, medium and large). I couldn't wait to bake some treats and found this recipe that turned out to be easy and good. Thanks!

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2010
OH MY GOSH! This was great. My husband ranked it as his second favorite soup of all times (knowing that he had better say my potato soup is the best). I made it as called for except for the spinach. Yuk! We loved it and will have it many more times. Thanks for the recipe. Update: Today we had the soup made with sliced red potatoes with the skin on. It was even better this way! We just can't get enough of it.

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
We love this recipe. My husband thought we should try different candies so we tried a lot of variations on the turtle. My favorite used Mars bar minis with pecan. Try hershey Kisses with M&M's, Dove with pecans. He wants to try peanut butter cups with reeses pieces next! What a fun and easy recipe. Oh, we filled a large cooke sheet which came out to about 45 at a time. Thanks for the recipe.

Curried Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: May 29, 2008
This was great! I made it as written, except I had only wal-mart brand smokie almonds to use. I thought it would be too salty, however, it was wonderful. Thanks for such a great side dish.

Bill's Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: May 23, 2008
This is wonderful! My husband and I both love blue cheese dressing a little more on the tart side, so I added 1 teaspon of red wine vinegar for that extra zip. I'll never buy store bought blue cheese dressing again. Thanks for a great recipe.
