Luscious Slush Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
This is an outstanding recipe. Made a double batch for a party of 40 (essentially 4 punch bowls full). Every DROP was gone! For some reason, this is especially a hit with the men. They raved over it and drank cup after cup! This recipe is definitely a keeper. I knew the compliments were sincere when 2 months later one of the men came up to me at a church reception and told me our hospitality ladies needed to get rid of their punch and get mine! :)

Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2009
Excellent recipe! Very rich, like a brownie. If you don't love semi-sweet chocolate, use your favorite kind of chips. I made this exactly as directed and got rave reviews. Not to mention, it was a BEAUTIFUL cake - like out of a magazine. I wish I had remembered to take a pic to post!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
Excellent recipe! I made these exactly as written and they turned out perfectly. We loved the soft, chewy texture and the cinnamon taste. Flavor-wise, it reminded me of a snickerdoodle. This is definitely a keeper!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Beautiful, juicy turkey! I brined the 16 lb turkey overnight. Used the exact recipe but added aromatics to the inside of the turkey. Baked in 3 1/2 hours at 350. Will definitely use this one again, maybe even in the crockpot with a turkey breast for a weeknight dinner.

Sugar Coated Pecans

YUM! These were a hit...and are addictive! I also used 2 egg whites and they turned out perfect.

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
This is an interesting and delicious take on stuffing. I used sourdough and wheat which was tasty. I should have cut up the bread smaller, but it still was great. I cooked outside of the turkey and accomodated by using 2 cups of broth. This made it very wet but yummy. Forgot to add the parsley but didn't miss it.

Caramel Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Although the pie turned out picture perfect, the consistency was just strange. I guess I'm partial to southern gooey pecan pie. This version was thick and not very sweet. I would use a traditional recipe over this one.

Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
I make this every year and it is always a family favorite. The only tip I would add is if possible, use strawberries you put away in the spring instead of store bought. Makes a world of difference!

Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
This is my favorite type of cheese ball and I have been making some version of this for many years. For the latest one, my husband bought a red pepper instead of green which gave it a slightly different taste but still yummy!

Southern Style Thanksgiving Green Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
This was a tasty version of southern green beans. However, the vinegar was a little potent in it and I would cut back on it in the future.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2007
Recipe turned out nicely - followed the exact recipe. Several people commented that it was lighter and not as sweet as some sweet potato casseroles. I would use this recipe again.

Bacon Water Chestnut Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
These were pretty tasty. I made the recipe as stated without any changes other than cooking about 15 minutes longer than called for in order to crisp the bacon. I enjoyed the sauce and would recommend following the instructions of cooking them in the sauce at the end rather than using it as a dipping sauce.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2007
Wow - I knew this many people couldn't be wrong! I did add a little cinnamon and also did a double crust instead of the lattice. I baked in a stoneware deep dish and it came out perfect. It only bubbled over slightly. Thanks for the awesome recipe!

Taffy Apple Salad III

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
I love recipes that have "salad" in the title but are delicious like this! Received many rave reviews this evening and everyone had seconds. The only alteration I made was I used cider vinager instead of white wine vinegar. Salad just gets better after sitting the fridge.

Special Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
Excellent recipe! Loved the horseradish kick which I though definitely made the recipe. I did not make any alterations other than to expand the recipe slightly to accomodate a few more eggs. All 16 deviled eggs were eaten and people were asking for more. Thanks for the recipe!
