I'm just a typical Aussie with no frills!
I love to cook, especially for friends, and they all love it!
I've been cooking since the age of nine years and now I love to cook fine cuisine from all over the world, well most of it.
I'm fortunate enough to live in a nice country town where meat, fruit and vegetables are plentiful and cheap as well. I also grow my own vegetables and herbs. Fresh is best!
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have a particular favourite recipe as I always work with what what happens to be in season at the time. I tend to shy away from recipe books etc. as I am quite innovative in my kitchen and over the years I have gained a lot of experience in many different cooking methods for an incredibly wide variety of available ingredients.
AS far as my favourites are concerned, I tend to lean towards Italian, Asian, Mexican and the South Pacific.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I was raised on typical Australian food at home, however where I gre up was a very multi-cultural community and I got to sample cuisine from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. I guess that helped a lot in fostering my interests in cuisine from many different countries.
My cooking triumphs
This may sound a bit different, howver it is true. I used to work in the Mining Exploration industry, camped out under the stars and none of my work colleages at the time could cook anything at all!
After my first effort at cooking roast lamb and vegetables in a Camp Oven over the coals, I soon got promoted to being the Chief Cook.
This worked out well as I got to stay in the shade all day cooking for about twelve men, and making their breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
The deal was that if I cooked, they had to do the washing up!
My cooking tragedies
Only one really.
I took some meat out of the freezer that I thought was a nice beef roast, so I so proceed to bake it etc.
Unfortunately it turned out have been a large Silverside (Corned Beef)!
