About this Cook
When it comes to food there's almost nothing I won't try! During the day I'm a graphic designer and I do the cooking for my Marine husband and me. We are stationed on the East Coast, but the Midwest is still our favorite home. See examples of my design work at
My favorite things to cook
Dinners are kind of a chore for me, but desserts are the best! Making them is just as fun as eating them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
As a little girl when I got sad or hurt my mother would make me a Happy Shake to cheer me up. I wasn't allowed in the kitchen when she made it because of the secret ingredient that made it "happy". It always made me feel special and lifted my spirits. I'm looking forward to someday making Happy Shakes for my own kids. (The shake was chocolate milk with a touch of vanilla extract.)
My cooking triumphs
Because I prefer quick and easy meals, it's a triumph just for me to spend lots of time and ingredients in a meal!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made an apple pie completely from scratch it was received so well at the party that I didn't even get a slice to taste it myself! I was so bummed!

State Fair Crepes
Yum! Used 1c bisquick, 3/4c almond milk, & 2 eggs to make the crepe batter. Only used one pan and lots of ingredients leftover to make more tomorrow!

Sooo yummy! I had to use different noodles and I forgot to add the parmesan cheese, but it still tasted great!! It's a refreshing twist on traditional spaghetti.
