Excellent flavor! I did make some changes, some per other reviewers and some just for my family's taste. I browned 1 lb. ground beef with the onion and garlic, drained the grease, then added 2 cans tomato sauce, one can of Italian diced tomatoes, 1/2 can stewed tomatoes (because I had it left over from another recipe), the beans, 3 large carrots (sliced), and all the spices except the salt. I simmered this for about 40 minutes, then added the ditalini pasta and let that cook for another 20. My only thought is that the pasta soaked up almost all the liquid, even with the extra cans of tomatoes. I think next time I will only use 1/2 pound of pasta so we have a little more of the yummy sauce to enjoy. I know the changes may not be exactly authentic, but they sure are yummy and we like a hearty soup at my house.
