Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
Really good! Definitely add chicken and veggies, and thicken the sauce. We ate this with some crab rangoons (my first time making those) and it was a great dinner!

Mushroom Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
This was fairly easy and pretty tasty. I did add more mushrooms than called for, but it still wasn't quite enough (odd as this sounds, there was still too much rice in the rice:mushroom ratio for our tastes). I think next time I'll add more mushrooms and cut back on the rice a bit.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2011
We thought this was really good, and not terribly difficult to make. I didn't plan ahead to marinate the chicken, so I just let it set for a little while and then cooked the chicken in the marinade, drained the liquid off, then added the chicken back in with some veggies (I cooked them just a little before throwing the chicken in) and the rest of the sauce. I used snow peas, broccoli, red pepper, and onion and it was delicious served over some steamed white rice! I did double the sauce, but I don't know that we really needed quite that much - maybe 1 1/2 it?

OREO Cheesecake Bites

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
Oh wow... These are awesome!! I didn't change anything but the amount of topping - as written it wasn't quite enough to cover the bars adequately. I upped the chocolate to 6 squares and added close to the same amount of butter. Everyone wanted the recipe! :)

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
These were pretty good, but honestly nothing special. They don't stay chewy for more than a couple days, and honestly, are no better than the recipe my mom and I use. Not a bad recipe at all, and if you're looking for a good chocolate chip cookie recipe, these certainly qualify - in my opinion they just weren't anything spectacular.

Slow Cooker Swiss Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2011
Awesome! I used my little chopper to chop the celery, onion, and carrots and added just a little bit of fresh garlic. I also used stew meat instead of round steak, as it was all I had. I cooked it on high for 4 hours, then low for about 3 and it was perfect. Served over mashed potatoes, it was a very healthy, hearty meal!

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Really yummy (especially hot with vanilla ice cream)! Definitely add some vanilla and do half white sugar, half brown - I also use unsalted butter instead of shortening. My husband and I both loved them!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
This was really good and super easy (and cheap, always nice)! I added some mushrooms and substituted chicken broth for the wine. I cut the chicken up in pieces and browned in some olive oil and Italian seasoning, then tossed it in the skillet with the sauce. I didn't bake it in the oven, just let it simmer for a while on the stove to save time. I thinned the sauce down with a little cream before serving over whole-wheat thin spaghetti. My husband and I both decided this was a keeper!

Cucumber Sandwich

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2011
Really good - didn't have sprouts, but next time will try to find them. I also think it needs a little zip - maybe some type of vinaigrette instead of just the red wine vinegar? Great way to pack in the veggies, though!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Awesome cookies! I used a coconut creme pudding (all I had!) and I agree with another reviewer's comment that you can't really taste the pudding flavor at all. I also took the suggestion to add the baking powder, salt, and extra vanilla - these turned out amazing! I made bigger cookies, so they were very soft! UPDATE: A week later, these cookies were STILL soft and chewy - not dried out like regular chocolate chip cookies at all!!

Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2011
Really yummy and super easy! I doubled everything except the butter - only used 5 Tbsp unsalted butter total - and more than doubled the chicken. I also used 3 Tbsp curry and didn't add any salt or pepper (the chicken broth added enough salt and the curry was spicy enough). Delicious!

Bacon Wrapped Pineapple

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
These were awesome! Definitely a big hit at our small group get-together tonight - this platter was the first one emptied! I would suggest halving the sauce - it made way more than I needed. And definitely use a broiler pan (lined with foil) to bake - I actually broiled mine for 2 minutes after the timer went off to make sure the bacon got a little crispy. Perfect!!

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
These were a bit time consuming, but had I read more reviews beforehand I could have used my mini-chopper and saved myself some serious prep time! :) I did use unsweetened applesauce instead of oil and whole wheat flour - other than that, the only thing I added extra was a little bit of pineapple (had some leftover chunks, so I just quartered them and tossed them in). I didn't shred the apples, just cut small chunks, and I only had sweetened coconut - I probably should have cut the sugar, but didn't think about it until it was too late, but next time I will for sure. They were definitely sweet, but DELICIOUS!!! Really love the pineapple in them - it added some great flavor!!

Baked Fettuccine Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2011
My husband happily declared this one to be a keeper! It was a last minute decision, so I made a few modifications based on what I had - sauted onion and green pepper with the hamburger meat (added 1 clove of garlic), used stewed tomatoes instead of diced, Italian seasoning instead of oregano, and bowtie pasta instead of fettuccine. Really great flavor and super easy!

Sirloin Tips and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2011
This was delicious! I did add the thyme, bay leaf, and brown sugar suggested by another reviewer, and used sherry instead of the red wine because it was all I had on hand. We at this over mashed potatoes with some steamed broccoli on the side - tasty and easy!

Fantastic!! I used yellow cornmeal too, no pine nuts, and added dried cherries and pecans - it was really delicious!

Crab Rangoon III

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
Delicious! I did not use the canned crab - I got the packaged stuff from the seafood section and adjusted the spices somewhat to taste. We ate the finished rangoons with a sweet/spicy Thai sauce - Amazing! Thanks!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
Delicious!! I really liked the oatmeal flavor in this and was a little unsure about that before I made them. I didn't have soy milk, so I just used 1%, otherwise I followed the recipe! I did like another reviewer's suggestion to try chocolate soy milk - maybe we'll do that next time! :)

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
I thought this was really good! I boiled the eggs for 8 minutes, then let them set in the hot water another 2 before rinsing them in in cold water. I omitted the green onions but added a little dried onion, celery seed, and dill along with some homemade sweet pickles. Along with some lettuce on toasted whole grain bread, this was a delicious lunch! Thanks!
