Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
The brown sugar-catsup topping was excellent and I recommend doubling it. The meatloaf itself was bland and uninteresting. Use your regular meatloaf recipe but by all means do the catsup brown sugar bottom. I made a 2 1/2 pound meatloaf and baked it in a round springform. It made a beautiful presentation which I call Upside Down Meatloaf

Excellent but insterting celery and onion isn't as good as surrounding legs with these vegs.

Egg in a Hole

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
I was leery about using bacon grease, but it turned out to be very tasty. My husband raved and asked for it again. I served it to a older lady from El Salvador who thought it was standard American breakfast and pronounced it "bueno." She's going to try to make it at her house. I used a shot glass to cut the circle and it was just right. Also, it's a great way to use bread that isn't good enough for sandwiches because it has become old and crumbly as happens here quickly in Florida.

Salmon Loaf

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
Good basic recipe but needs to have regular stuff added like green pepper, onion, parsley, celery, Worcestershire etc. to make it great. I used oatmeal instead of crackers because it's healthier.

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Make it as is. Tried other variations and they were not as good as the original recipe. Just make sure whole kernel corn is drained or use frozen.

Delish. Did not use pineapple juice and used Splenda instead of sugar. Wonderful

Super Easy Chicken Fingers

Excellent recipe but I used my toaster oven at 400 degrees. I crushed Stove Top Stuffing Mix and and olive oil. After 20 minutes it was perfect.

Middle Eastern Turkey Dogs

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2008
Pretty interesting. It's a very middle eastern flavor which might be too strong for Americans unused to such cooking. I like the idea of patties better than tubes and put yogurt cucumber sauce on. Actually I think it would even be good with mustard and sour pickles.

Bread Pudding II

Sometimes simple is best. This is the easiest recipe. No fuss or frills, just excellent old fashioned bread pudding taste.

Cold Oven Popovers

Reviewed: May 3, 2008
Put muffin pan in freezer while making cold batter. Then put in cold oven and bake at 450 for 27 min. Don't peek. I not longer have "pop-unders" but get great pop-overs every time.

Bodacious Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2007
This is the first time I've not raved about a 5 star recipe. It was just ordinary. The regular broccoli salad with raisins is much better.

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
Really good done in a crock pot. The orange gives it a real kick. If you put the cabbage in the meat juice instead of water, you don't even need butter or margarine.

Blue Ribbon Overnight Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
This is the most convient roll recipe I have ever used. I put everything into my bread machine and let it rise overnight in a large container. It made easy, good, old fashioned American light dinner rolls with a buttery, pleasant taste. The dough smelled very sour in the morning, but it baked up nicely and the sour smell dissapated right away and the taste was just right.

Chicken a la King I

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2006
Comfort food just like chicken a la king should taste except it should be peas instead of green pepper. I used butter flavored Birds Eye frozen peas and left the butter out altogether. It was more buttery than sauce than real butter could make it and much less fat and calories.
