Candied Yams

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
This has always been a favorite of mine but this is the first time I had ever tried to make it myself. I Used fresh yams, peeled them, forked them, wrapped loosely in plastic wrap and zapped in microwave. Then I sliced and followed recipe, cooking only for 10 minutes allowing the sauce to form, then added marshmallows and cooked for another 5.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2007
Pretty good... excellent texture but I was not very impressed by the taste. Pretty bland. I added a little brown sugar (didn't change the color) and almond extract (equal amount to the vanilla). After that they were a lot better.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
I cooked just as the recipe stated and they did not turn out. I think next time I will leave in for longer and trim the sprouts better. It was my first time eating Brussel Sprouts, so it could just be I dont like them. I will try again to see!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2007
This was a good cookie! I used all brown sugar instead of the white and they still turned out REALLY GOOD. I had to cook them a few minutes longer than the recipe because they were too mushy when I first checked them. I also added only 1/2 the cinnamon and used egg whites. Next time I am going to try replacing 1/2 the butter with applesauce. UPDATE: I made this recipe w/ 1/2 the butter, the other half applesauce, all brown sugar, and wholewheat flour. They were pretty good, not nearly as good as the first batch with the reg. ingredients. They were cakier and not as chewy...more like a muffin, but still delicious.
