German-Style Pickled Eggs

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
My husband and I love these eggs. They are just so GOOD! We also enjoy the pickled onions on other things - like salad and hamburgers. They are so crisp! Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
What a waste of bananas. These were the blandest banana muffins I have ever had or made. I'm throwing the whole batch away. I can't understand how this ever got such great reviews.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
This cake was scrumptious!! I made it for Mother's Day along with some homemade vanilla ice cream and it was the best! (I also doubled the butter sauce like others recommended.) The only other thing I would do different is that I would invert the pan while it was still a little warm - not completely cold. I had a hard time removing it from my faceted bundt pan and had to reheat it a little in the oven to loosen the butter sauce. Other than that, perfect! Will definitely make again and again.

Cold Oven Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 14, 2008
I've never been able to make a decent pound cake until this one. It was WONDERFUL!! I've made it twice but used lemon extract and zest in the second one. The were both fantastic. My husband took the lemon one to work and they scarfed it up immediately.

I made these for work and got lots of compliments and requests for the recipe. It's like lemon cheesecake.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
I'm not normally a chicken and dumplings fan but wanted to make this for my husband, who is. I have to say, this had a very good flavor. The only mistake I made was that I didn't put enough liquid in the pot (I had an unfortunate episode recently with some very soupy stroganoff and it made me a little gunshy!). Anyway, I rolled out the bisquits to make them a little thinner and did not use as many bisquits as called for. It was VERY thick...but yummy. I will definitely make this again and will be a little more generous with the liquid.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
This was a good chicken recipe. Very easy. I had some Garlic & Herb Parmesan on hand and used that. I will definitely keep this in my recipe box. Next time I think I'm going to use the Italian bread crumbs as well. My husband even liked this chicken and he's very hard to please.

German Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
My husband is half German so I was happy to cook a recipe that I thought he might enjoy. He liked it fine (he's not much on compliments) but I REALLY thought it was good. Of course, like everyone else, I changed some things to suit our tastes. I used smoked turkey sausage instead of Kielbasa and "No Yolk" egg noodles instead of the lasagna noodles. I also sauted the sausage slices before adding them to the lasagna layers. I just think it makes the meat better to caramelize it a little before adding to a casserole. Anyway, like I said, it turned out great! I really think my German mother-in-law would enjoy it. Thanks for an unusual and satisfying recipe.

Spiced Butternut Squash Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
This was my first experience ever with butternut squash. These were much better than I expected. They had the taste and, somewhat, the texture of pumpkin pie. I made a crumble topping using brown sugar, butter and flour and it really added some nice flavor.

Dog Biscuits II

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
My dog is very picky and doesn't normally like treats. He really liked these though. I used ground beef instead of pork. I was glad to see carrots in this recipe since he LOVES them so much. My neighbor's dogs practically ate my hand off for these biscuits!!
