Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2012
Ok, this is awesome. I don't have a bread machine so I followed what everyone else said to do, and it worked. I brought them to work and everyone said they were amazing. I have to agree! I found that 1/3c of butter was not enough to cover the rolls so I had to add a little more, and next time I would probably use a little more brown sugar/cinnamon mixture, too. It was barely enough to coat the dough. They were extremely delicious and I will definitely make them again. The frosting is soooooooooooooo good too. It tastes exactly like Cinnabon!!!

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2012
This recipe is awesome!! I am more than a little perturbed at everyone who rated this recipe, but said they just used bottled dressing. Seriously!? I'm pretty sure that what makes or breaks a pasta salad is the dressing, and what makes this recipe great is the dressing you make yourself. But I digress. I made this recipe exactly as written and it was awesome. To me, pasta salad with a bottle of dressing dumped on it is pretty terrible and not worth the calories. This recipe is not that. The flavors are great! I was worried the Asiago cheese would be too strong but it was fine. Honestly, once it was in the salad I could barely taste it so next time I might swap it for something cheaper like cheddar/mozz. I would recommend not putting the tomatoes in the fridge - not a good idea in general. I added mine at the end. I don't really like green peppers or black olives but I really enjoyed them in this salad. 5 stars for this one... it's a keeper!

Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
Cooking time is not long enough. Celery was still crunchy, ick. I doubled the chicken broth and tomato sauce because everyone else is right; there is just not enough liquid. Do cook the pasta separately. It gets 4 stars for the flavor and ease of preparation but the amounts of ingredients and cooking time are way off... listen to the reviews on this one!

Chocolate Butter-Creme Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2011
This is an idiot proof recipe for chocolate buttercream. Love it! It tastes great, not an overpowering chocolate flavor but still very rich. I would like to point out that at no time did my sugar and butter become "light and fluffy". It was more like a soft dough which just sucked up the chocolate and milk and magically transformed into perfect frosting. It is fun to watch this one come together!

Quinoa with Peas

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
This is an awesome quinoa recipe. Cooking the quinoa with the onion and spices really ups the flavor. I always cook quinoa with chicken broth but this recipe is even better! I love, love, LOVE it. Just don't add the peas as early as it says unless you like overcooked, mushy peas. Maybe throw them in the last 5 minutes. I make this all the time and my family loves it.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
This is a great recipe! Everyone loved it and was very impressed. I tossed the apples in the syrup instead of pouring it over the top; I was worried I might miss a spot otherwise!

Blueberry Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: May 27, 2011
I made these again yesterday and still give 3 stars but for somewhat different reasons I have to agree with those who said they are biscuit like. They really are. I don't know what I did last time but the actual muffin part was pretty bland this time. And ugh, the streusel! Are those giving 5 star reviews serving these immediately? You must be. They do not keep well at ALL. Not even for 12 hours. The streusel turns to nasty mush and they are just not good at all. I can't recommend this recipe. And I followed it exactly. My first review: I love the actual muffin part, although I had to add at least 1/4 cup more milk. Before I did so the batter was way too thick. The only change I made was to use half whole wheat flour and the muffins taste delicious even with that change. However, I did not care for the topping. Yes, it tasted good for the first day, but the second day it turned to mush. Worse, it soaked the muffin liners with butter so there was no way I could serve these to people. I will stick with the recipe for the muffin but look for a new streusel recipe. Oh, and the recipe makes more than 12 muffins. I got about 18 out of it but could have made them a tad smaller and made even more.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
Eh. I thought it was WAY too sweet. The texture was really good, and it smelled really good, but it was so sweet. The frosting was good but too thin. I will not be making this recipe again but will try another from this site. OR maybe I will make it again, but HALVE the sugar!

Absolutely the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Pretty darn good. However, this recipe made exacltly 4 dozen, and I used very rounded spoonfuls! They are delicious and keep for several days. I am not a huge chocolate chip cookie fan but I do have to eat a few of these every time I make them!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
This chili is AWESOME! I am not a chili person and I loved it. I added a little more tomato sauce because it seemed dry. I did not change anything else. Delicious. I will never make a more complicated chili recipe again!

Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
This is a great recipe. I used half whole wheat flour to make them healthier, but otherwise kept them the same. Delicious, awesome texture, and easy to throw together with ingredients I almost always have on hand. I was able to get 14 muffins out of this recipe. I don't like whole wheat things but I could not even taste it so I'd recommend others try substituting half the all purpose flour for WW flour!

Chicken with Buttery Lemon Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2011
Decent, easy, but lacking in the flavor department. Also, extremely unhealthy but... you can just use less sauce and then it's not quite as bad! It just tasted like bitter lemon... no depth of flavor. I made it exactly as written. I will not make this recipe again.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
Ok, I have made this twice now. I still don't love it. It is sweet in a disgusting way, and the texture is weird because of the chunky tomatoes and all the dried basil. Maybe I will spring for fresh next time! I am going to make it again, and try other reviews' suggestions to put it through the blender. I added probably 1.5 T of flour, which really helped thicken it and make it a great consistency, not runny. I like the flavor but must try it with these modifications, and without the sugar...

Butter Snow Flakes

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
This is an awesome recipe. I just got a cookie press and wanted to try out some different recipes. The traditional, plain recipes are just not that good... not worth wasting calories on, I say. These are amazing. The second time I doubled the cinnamon and orange zest and they were even better. Very easy to work with in the cookie press. My mom and grandmother loved them!

Chicken with Quinoa and Veggies

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
My first time making quinoa... this was delish! I don't care for zucchini though so I used broccoli instead. I kept everything exactly the same. My bf doesn't like feta but he ate this up and had seconds! It is really yummy. Just wing it on the cooking times... nothing worse than overcooked veggies. I think next time I will use less oil, 4T is alot.

Cream Cheese Kolacky

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
These are AWESOME. Love this recipe. I doubled it and would recommend that everyone else do the same, at least. Double batch made almost 4 dozen. Not much. I have never made cookies like this before and they turned out awesome. Make sure to roll the dough thin enough or they will be too puffy. And pinch them together really well. Highly recommend the Solo pastry filling, it is delicious and did not run at all. I had no problems with the filling spilling out.

Penne with Spicy Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
I love this recipe. I always use more than 2 links of sausage (for 8 servings... 2 seems like way too small of an amlount!) and use hot italian sausage and then just leave out the red pepper flakes. Otherwise I do not change a thing. It is one of my favorite quick and easy recipes and it really impresses people!

White Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
These are awesome. I use less than 10 ounces of chocolate... because that just seems excessive in relation to the amount of dough. I used 8 ounces this time. Whenever a recipe says to chill for on hour, I chill overnight. It doesn't hurt and it usually helps by making the cookies spread out less. Chilling overnight might help those who say they turned out too flat. I have made them twice and everyone loves them. Way better than the Subway ones, which I love!
