Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2008
These were wonderful! My mom needed these for a function to feed about 20 people (of course we made more than the recipe calls for) and they got great reviews. She also used the crock pot to reheat these and we needed no extra milk or cream after reheating. They're really stiff when cold, but soften nicely reheated. Added chives and about 6 oz. chive cream cheese along w/ 8 oz plaing cc. Used 10 lbs. red potatoes too. Thanks for the great day before recipe!!

Oven Fried Chicken IV

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2008
This was okay, but too many herbs in my opinion...specificaly rosemary. It's a strong herb and somewhat overpowered the chicken...and I cut it back to 3 TBSP. It was certainly crunchy enough though! My children weren't fond of it either and peeled off the coating...which they normally love. I think I'll stick w/ my usual recipe.

My family and I really liked this! I also had difficulty w/ heating, but that didn't stop me from giving it 5 stars. It's a great quick meal and has many possibilities! Thanks for the great recipe!

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2008
This was incredible! I couldn't help but tweak it a little since there was such great opportunity for flavor enhancement. I sprinkled the chicken w/ kosher salt & fresh grnd pepper and spinach & herb seasoning that I get from Tastefully Simple...but you could use any herbs you like. Then I browned it over fairly high heat in butter and olive oil, removed the chicken and set aside. Added about 1/2 cup chicken broth to the pan and scraped up all those yummy bits, then added the chicken back to the pan and covered & cooked till done. Remove chicken and reduce broth by half (1/4 cup). I cooked the noodles in water and the remaining chicken broth from the can, drained & added the cut chicken to the noodles. Mixed cr. of chicken w/ herbs soup & mush soup w/ sour cream & added the reduction. Mixed that w/ a little more herb seasoning. Added chicken & noodles & combined well. Topped w/ shredded chedder and cracker crumb mixture. WOW! My husband ate 3/4 of the casserole and my children LOVED it! A definate add to the rotation! Thanks!

Tammy's Tempting Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
This was way to salty for me...and I like salt! I think adding half of the ranch dressing would help. I wanted something w/ a more subtle flavor. This wasn't it. Sorry.

Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2008
This bread was great! My hubby loves sweet bread and thought I spoiled him w/ this. I also used the dough cycle on my machine and put it in my loaf pan to bake in the oven. I brushed it w/ egg wash first. YUMMY!

Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
Like others, my "cookies" turned out flat and oily. They spread into one another. I followed the recipe and used regular pb. I can say that the taste is wonderful...but not very easy to eat when they just fall apart when you pick them up.

Mini Sour Cream Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2007
Okay, WOW! I was totally expecting these to be somewhat bland...but they were great! I was going to add some herbs, but decided to do what I normally do and stay true to the recipe the first time. I'm glad I did because they were great as is. Tender and a nice flavor! Thanks for the fabulous, EASY recipe!

Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
The flavor of this bread was oh so orange! Quite delightful. However, I'm giving it 4 stars because the "glaze" was too liquidy to be considered a glaze. I followed the recipe exactly and it made so much that I think it calls for reducing the "sugared juice" in the pan to thicken it into a glaze. Otherwise it was very good! Update: Made it again and this time simmered the glaze until it redused to about half and then removed the bread from pan and brushed it on. Came out much better! 5 Stars! On a side note, I accidently added only 1/2 cup sugar to the bread and it still came out delightful! Great way to cut back!

Perfect Baked Potato

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
These were very good. I love the idea of seasoning the potato w/ salt before cooking. It really makes the skin taste so much better. My only problem was that the skins weren't as crispy as I would like. Possibly because I partially cooked them in the microwave first to cut down on cooking time. Next time I'll do them entirely in the oven to see if it that makes a difference. Otherwise, the best recipe I've tried so far! Yum!

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
This was really good! Next time I think I'll omit the salt since the cheese adds enough saltiness. I'm sort of partial to salty foods though, so it didn't bother me. Makes great sandwiches the next day! Thanks for the great recipe...I'll be making this often!

Gourmet Chicken Sandwich

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2007
Good, but next time I'll add less rosemary. Maybe I'll try a different herb since hubby isn't to crazy about rosemary...that being said, it was nice having something aside from the ordinary.

Grocery Store Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
This was very good, but not quite like my local grocery store. I'm looking for something with a little less butter flavor. The cake cuts beautifully from the refrigerator, however and has a not too sweet flavor. My hubby loved it, so I will definately make it again! Thanks!

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
The kids loved these! I think I'll use less butter next time, but other than that they were very good. I put mine under the broiler for a minute or two just to give them a little bit of crunch. Yum!!

Easy, Speedy Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
These corn muffins were surprisingly very good and not dry. I hate a dry muffin. The creamed corn added nice flavor! A definate keeper! Thanks! UPDATE: 5/17/09 - I used a cheaper canned corn this time and although they were still good, they didn't have the same taste as they do when I use a name brand, like Del Monte or Green Giant.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2007
This was super easy! I'm use to making my pot roast in a pressure cooker with a more pronounced beef flavor, but the simplicity of this recipe and good flavor was wonderful! The gravy is fabulous over mashed potatoes. I served this with fresh buttery carrots and the easy corn muffins on this site. Even better was the "shephard's pie" I made with the left overs. I cut up the remaining roast and heated it with the left over gravy ( I'm guessing about 1 part roast to 2 parts gravy?)in a pot, added the remaining carrots sliced and poured it over the mashed potatoes that I had already spread in the bottom of a 13x9" casserole dish. I then topped that with one can of corn, drained. Pop it in a 375* oven until heated through. Yummmmm!
