About this Cook
I have loved cooking since I was a little girl, back then my older sister even complained about me because all my games involved food and cooking. Now we both love to cook and often share cook books. I dreamed about going to culinary school but I decided to major in chemistry instead, which I also love very much; and think about it this way, ultimately, cooking is all about chemistry ;) Lately my sis and I have been writing a recipes blog, to visit us go to:
My favorite things to cook
Italian, specially pasta, I love pasta I'm constantly trying to come up with new ways to serve it, if it wasn't for the carbs I would eat pasta every single day. I am Mexican, and I obviously love Mexican food, I have had the fortune to travel around several places in Mexico. Realizing about the richness of our culinary culture is one of the things that delights me the most, when I get back home, I always try to replicate whatever I have discovered (well except for the baby grasshoppers sope I tasted in Oaxaca, it was utterly delicious, but I couldn't taste it but once, it was just too weird for me)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making about a dozen sorts of cookies chocolates and candies to give away in Christmas. Also I spend Saturdays cooking, I plan complete menus including appetizers, soup, main course and sometimes even deserts, I don't always have the time to do the whole thing so it is usually just two courses, mainly because I take so long, on Saturdays I don't like to rush, its like a date, I often drink wine or beer and watch a movie or listen to music; so relaxing and fun.
My cooking triumphs
Every time my picky boyfriend likes something I cook and asks for it again, or whenever he wants to get involved in the cooking, even though sometimes I act like a kitchen dictator... lol
My cooking tragedies
So, so many, the last one I think was when I had this crave for chocolate cake, so I started looking for a recipe, I didn't have much butter, so I luckily found an oil chocolate cake recipe on this site. I had started mixing all the ingredients when I realized I didn't have oil either. I had to make some weird substitutions, and of course, the end result was not the best, although it satisfied my chocolate requirements n_n

Mexican Rice II
This is a pretty traditional Mexican rice recipe, except for the cumin, having grown up in Mexico, I never knew anyone or any place that would add cumin to rice or nearly to any real Mexican dish, this is a Tex-Mex flavor. Real garlic is also used instead of the garlic salt or powdered one.

Salsa De Tomatillo
This is actually, the exact same way my mom makes salsa de tomatillo, it is fabulous indeed, although no matter what, mine is never as good as hers. :D besides the cilantro you can add chopped scallions. depending on what you are going to do with it you can increase the amount of jalapeños to make it hotter, for example two jalapeños are fine when you are going to make enchiladas or chilaquiles, but if you are going to serve this with tacos or chips you may want to add a couple more jalapeños. you can also add a can of tomato puree.

The Best Lemon Bars
I just made these, and they truly are the best. I used 2 medium lemons and about 4 limes to make it up to 1/2 cup of juice, I also reduced the sugar to 1 1/4 cup. Delicious!!!
