Pumpkin Cake with Apple Top

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I didn't care for this recipe at all. I had extra pumpkin puree (from a can) so thought this cake sounded like it could be good. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The cardamom was completely overpowering for my taste, although my husband did like it. The texture is not light and fluff like cakes normally are, instead, it's heavy and dense. I thought the taste was better with fresh whipped cream or ice cream. One more thing, the cake was in the oven for 45 minutes before the knife came out clean. I don't envision baking this again, but I appreciate the recipe..

Shrimp Provencal

Very good. I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to add the sauce from the canned tomotoes so opted not to. Mistake. I thought there needed to be more sauce, at least for my taste. Next time I will add the sauce, more salt and some oregano.

Creamy Rice Pudding

My husband is English so rice pudding was a staple for dessert in his household. Since I don't care for rice pudding, I rarely make it. But he had a tough week at work so I wanted to do something little for him, just to make him smile. His first bite of this dessert was filled with 'mmmms' and 'ahhhhhs'! He said this was the best rice pudding he's ever had... but he added he'd never tell his mother that! He ate the dessert in 2 sittings so I'm making some more for him this afternoon. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Devil's Food Cake I

After reading all the comments on this recipe, I was convinced it was going to turn out terrific. I followed the directions exactly. After 30 minutes, I checked the cake; it shook like Santa's belly when I began to remove it from the oven. I therefore kept it in a few more minutes and then checked it more. Still not done. This time the sides were more cooked but the middle was completely uncooked. Next time I checked it (after a few more minutes), the entire middle portion of the cake sunk! I let it bake until it was done, but the cake was ruined. I verified that my oven temperature was set properly and that there's not a problem with the internal temperature setting. Overall, what a disappointment. I'd say it was me, but other recipes have turned out just fine. What's so distressing is that I live in Japan and ingredients are hard to come by and are expensive when you can find them... what a wate of time and money.
