Green Beans with Almonds

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2013
I sauteed the beans in some left over bacon fat. Added some garlic and then added lemon juice as suggested by others. It was a really great way to cook up frozen green beans. :)

Turkey Wild Rice Soup II

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2012
I excluded the almonds and used leftover smoked turkey. I prefer a creamier base and probably would have gotten that if I had used half and half instead of the 2% I had on hand. I pureed the cooked onions and celery as one reviewer suggested but had issues cooking the flour. Would recommend cooking the flour separately, adding the pureed veggies, then the stock. Definitely needed the extra spices as others suggested. I added rosemary, sage, thyme, and garlic. A good warm you up meal :) **Next day had to add more turkey stock and milk as the rice had soaked up too much of the broth. Good thing I made it in advance.

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
I like heavy flavors so I added 1/2 oz extra of ranch dressing mix, garlic powder, and white pepper. I also did as others suggested and added 1/2 mayo and 1/2 sour cream. Turned out wonderful!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
I added whole cloves of garlic to the veggies in the cavity. I minced garlic, added that to the butter and placed that under the skin. Tented the bird with aluminum foil to help retain moisture. After roasting, I pureed the remaining veggies, garlic, and spices (except the bayleaf) and created a gravy with turkey stock. Tasted amazing, no need for a thickener.

I double the wine, tripled the garlic, added a tsp of minced onion, and 1/4 tsp of ground ginger. Seared on med high heat and used only 3 pork chops and this recipe turned out perfect! I loved the sauce and served with mashed potatoes. Tasted ah-mazing. Definitely becoming a staple in my house

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
1) Needed more flavor. I tripled the garlic and added Marjoram, Nutmeg, Thyme, Basil, Parsley, and Oregano to the ricotta mixture. I like dishes heavy with different spices/herbs. 2) Slit the manicotti shells as suggested and no one noticed. 3) "Layering" the sauce was useless. The bechemel was delicious but I'm just going to mix the two sauces from the start. 4) Served with salad and garlic bread. 5) Well received and no leftovers :)

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2010
After following JILLYBEAN14's shortcut to all the additions, this turned out great! 1 mistake on my part, forgot to thoroughly mix in the cream cheese. I ended up with cream cheese chunks in my sauce!

Holly's Hummus

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
A little dry so I added more water and a few drops of sesame oil. Didn't have cilantro so used parsley. Tripled the garlic because I love garlic! Just had to puree the heck out of it, other than that great!

Quick and Yummy Hummus

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I was so looking forward to this recipe! It disappointed :( Too runny, too lemony, and weird without the tahini. I'm sorry. It just didn't taste like hummus. Other than that it wasn't too bad. I was expecting hummus and got a not bad dip for veggies. Sorry :(

Ohh so good! Heavy, but man, on a cold night, yum!! Followed the suggested changes from other reviewers. Made so many in fact that I doubt the recipe is the same however, it is a great start.

sorry but i had horrible luck with this gravy, it tasted like veggie oil to me! i'm going to take other people suggestions and try adding some spiced pork sausage bits next time, maybe it'll taste better. other than that it sure was easy to make!

Emma's Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
This recipe worked out great!! I followed the directions exactly except for throwing in 1/2 a bag of frozen blueberries after the batter had rested. My family devoured them up before I got a taste! So I am definitely doubling up the batch next time!
