About this Cook
Married for 12 years have two kids (boy 3, girl 1) We live in the country, I love bluegrass gospel music and play the accordion, guitar and keyboard myself. Also like walking for excerise and try to keep relatively healthy while still enjoying life. Also like blogging and you can check it out at
My favorite things to cook
Pizza. On a perfect afternoon the kids are sleeping, I'm listening to opera and chopping while our favorite Jay's Signature Pizza Crust is gently rising on the counter beside me. On a not so perfect but still good afternoon, my 3 year old son is helping me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My husband and I are Mennonite. My favorite food memories are getting fresh potatoes, corn, and peas out of the garden, cooking them up with some "schmont fat" for the potatoes. For dessert it was saskatoon pie with ice cream. Other traditions were "pluma mouse" which is a cold sweet fruit soup, "rollkuchen"- deep fried dough that is eaten with watermelon and then there was waffles with pudding sauce. All things I still make occasionally.
My cooking triumphs
When I became as good a cook as my sister in law...who is great. She's been asking for lots of recipes lately :-) I love it.
My cooking tragedies
Max 1000 characters huh? I dont' wanna talk about it.

Iced Mochas
Loved this drink. I did however only use 1 cup of milk, as many reviews suggested, and the consistensy was perfect. We actually like them BETTER than the Tim Horton's Iced Cap. Thanks

American Lasagna
This has become a household recipe. I make one recipe exactly as listed and another half recipe using only veggies. For a half recipe, I saute 1/2 lb mixture of sliced mushrooms and peppers. Add 3 cups fresh spinach and the rest of the sauce ingrediants, everything else as listed. We love it.
