Amish Friendship Bread Starter

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
I have had so much fun with this recipe! I call it my "bread baby". A great way to get the whole family involved in cooking (try letting your kids stir it once in a while or give them the responsibility of "caring" for it.)

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Great, wholesome recipe. Very comforting... I made it on a cool, cloudy fall day and it truly hit the spot. I didn't have baking mix, so I made homemade dumplings using 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 egg, 1/4 cup milk and parsley. I also didn't use the cream of celery soups and instead used chicken base and thickened the stew with corn starch.

Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2008
I really liked this recipe for its ease of preparation and versatility. I did make a few additions/substitutions of my own including adding smoked paprika to make up for the lack of smoked ham hock that is included in traditional recipes and the substitution of chicken base for cans of chicken broth. This recipe is awesome~!

Buttery Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
The rolls were incredibly easy and absolutely delicious! I made them on Thanksgiving for my family and they were a huge hit (especially with my 21 month old son...) I will be making these again.

Michelle's Famous Washed Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
A good recipe... I liked the twist of brown sugar but still substituted orange juice for the water and had to make the sugars 3/4 cup instead of 1/2 cup to decrease the tartness. Will make again tho...

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Easy, tasty... What more can I say? I whipped this one up on a whim and served it with vanilla ice cream and homemade whipped cream. It was a huge hit with my picky family. I used a bag of frozen triple berry mix and then used a paper towel to get some of the excess moisture off the top at the end. It wasn't soggy at all, though.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
Turned out absolutely amazing with no alterations in the recipe. We had friends visiting from Florida and they couldn't get enough of them. I will definitely keep this recipe (much to the chagrin of my waistline...)

Deli Style Brisket

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
I took this recipe and sort of ran with it. I used 1 can of condensed tomato soup with two and a half cans of water instead of ketchup, 1 packet of onion soup dip mix, a few healthy shakes of worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt. I also added baby red potatoes and coarsely chopped carrots. At the end, I took out all of the meat and vegetables and added two tablespoons of cornstarch mixed with a dash of cold water to make some great gravy. Good luck!

Dump Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
This recipe is missing one very important ingredient: instant vanilla pudding mix. Simply mix the pudding mix with the yellow cake mix before adding to the top of the fruit and add the butter as normal. This makes ALL the difference in the world.

My family loved this recipe! They took it for lunch for 3 days straight after Thanksgiving. It definitely adds variety to a Thanksgiving dinner. Very easy to make!

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2011
Wow! This is the best "healthy" pancake recipe I've ever found. I took the advice of previous reviewers and added cinnamon and vanilla. I substituted Splenda Brown Sugar Blend for the brown sugar but instead of reducing the amount like I normally would bc Splenda is more concentrated, I still used 2 Tablespoons. Fabulous recipe!!!
