Braised Tofu

for about 4 pieces of tofu, I sliced it up and fried it with olive oil, set it aside and fried up a very small amount of ground pork and sliced onions then mixed it together with 1 tblsp of oyster sauce with about 2 tblsp of water. It was very tasty.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

The toasted almonds adds a good texture to the salad but it was very sweet and I had to add more of the vinegar to lessen the sweetness of it. Next time I will add alot less sugar.

Chicken Broccoli Ca - Unieng's Style

Taste close to the Chinese restaurant. Followed reviewer and after adding veggies added an extra tbsp of oyster sauce and 2 tbsp soy sauce but still needed a little more juice. Other than that family liked it.

French Breakfast Muffins

Followed recipe exactly except substituted nutmeg for vanilla extract and it tasted very good. Would halve the sugar/cinnamon combo, recipe calls for more than needed.

Garlic Prime Rib

Had a 6lb rib, let it sit out for about an 1 hr, followed the recipe for the 10 lb rib. Took about 3 hrs for my therm to reach 160 for medium done. The meat was soft but some spots were still red. Next time may try and cook a little longer because I do not like to see any red in my meat. Tasted good where I seasoned it but some middle areas did not have any flavor. Everyone else didn't have any comments except that it was good.

Simple BBQ Ribs

Tried the recipe as is except I used spare ribs. Boiled for 45 min and baked for 45 min. Used Sweet Baby's Ray's Honey BBQ sauce. Meat was tender and soft, wasn't falling off the bones but still very good.

Spanish Flan

Followed the recipe exactly except added 1 extra egg. The flan was not a smooth silky texture but had holes and was very think. Will try recipe again but will do the water bath and shorten the cooking time next time to see if that'll make a difference.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Turned out great, followed recipe exactly except substituted the butter for oil. too much butter was melted for the top though. did not have to use entire amount. next time will melt less butter.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

i followed the recipe as is except for the topping which i took another reviewers suggestion. the cake part turned out just ok. a little bland. the top part was also just ok. not as crumbly as i like it. might try and again but will play with the recipe.

Cream Puffs

followed directions from mommyfromseattle except i wasn't paying attention and added 1 tbsp vanilla but still ended up great. tasted exactly like cream puffs and didn't deflate. had too much filling left over so next time probably will only make 1/2 the filling. this is a keeper

Beef Pho

Followed the recipe exactly except I used beef soup bones found at my local grocery store. Was a little bland so I had to add more salt, but that could have been a personal taste. Other than that it turned out very close to authentic beef pho.

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

followed the recipe except used butter flavored shortening. Mixed it all in the KA and turned out fine. Followed the other reviewers and rolled it out between 2 pieced of wax paper and was very easy to work with. Crust came out very flaky but a little on the bland side. Maybe needed more butter flavor or something. But good easy crust recipe.

Hong Kong Style Egg Tarts

These taste similar but not quite exactly like the ones you buy at the asian store. After reading several reviews I cut back on the sugar for the dough and it turned out good. Not as flaky as the ones from the store but still good. I didn't have any evaporated milk on hand so substituted whole milk instead. The custard still turned out tasty. Very light and not dense. Cooked it 3 different temps: 1st one at 400 for 13min, 2nd at 375 for 20min and 4th at 400 for 13 min but on a lower rack. They all turned out basically the same. will make again.

Special Buttercream Frosting

First time I had ever made frosting. Turned out great. A little too sweet the first time so cut back on the confectioners sugar by 1 cup the second time. Tinted well and was easy to pipe the frosting out.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Dries very shiny and smooth. Tried the original recipe w/almond and my kids didn't care for it. Did it again w/vanilla extract and tastes much better. Great for decorating cookies.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs
