Yellow Chess Cake

Very good, family liked it a lot. It helped, I think, to let the crust cool a little before spreading the cream cheese mixture. I agree the cheese spread didn't really rise to the top as much as bubble up at the edges. Crust was perfect, it helped to have graham cracker crumbs which already have shortening mixed in with them. Overall, a good recipe and already my husband requested it for Fourth of July.

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Incredible. We had this for breakfast because I was afraid the filling would be wet if it sat overnight and all day. No worries, I don't think it will wet the crust for 2 days. Definitely not enough sauce for 2 pies, these amounts were perfect for one pie.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Wow!! As always seems the case I "made some changes" because I didn't have Italian dressing mix, but I did have Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix. Recipe turned out amazing. Bit hit, I will definitely be making this again.

Homemade Salami

Same ingredients, different cooking technique: Wrap each half of the two pounds of meat mixture in the foil - not particularly water proof, either, just snug enough to give it a shape - and then let it sit in the refrigerator for 24 hours. After at least 24 hours, place it in a deep pan (I used a stock pot), cover both logs with cold water, bring it to a boil. Boil for one hour (I reduced to a simmer to keep the steam down). Drain and unwrap the foil, pat the sausage with paper towels, chill before slicing. Really good, and I only turned the logs once in the water, they kind of floated but then again I used 1/2 bison and 1/2 beef.

Chocolate Waffle Cookies

There is simply no reason to make any other chocolate cookie than this. I ice with a one-minute chocolate icing (very tricky) and my family went berserk. You have to take them off the iron just as they get firm, exactly one minute cooking on a very hot iron. It's a labor of love, but so worth it.

Russian Tea Cakes II

I thought the previous review must have done something wrong, but I had the same results: flat, not round, cookies that were crumbly and the powder got sticky. I saved the situation by putting my cooling rack over the sink and sifting powder sugar onto the cookies while hot and again avter the first dusting got sticky.

Apple Carrot Muffins

I prety much altered this recipe beyond recognition... 1tsp baking powder, 3/4 tsp soda, a full cup carrots, and instead of raisin bran cereal, I used a cup of quick-cooking oatmeal and 3/4 cup of Grape-nuts cereal. AND I dind't have buttermilk, so I used 1/2 cup low fat sour cream and 1/2 cup skim milk. I would decrease the powder next time to 3/4 tsp and add raisins or chopped prunes. They turned out great, not really cake-ey.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Oh my stars this is so good and easy!!! Mouth watering and the whole house smells great. I used less meat than called for with the same soup/water and it still turned out dynamite. THANK YOU!! This is why I love this website.
