I have never had Chicken Cordon Bleu before and WOW! I am glad that I finally decided to try it. I did however change it up a bit because of other reviews. I rolled the chicken up as directed, then rolled in flour, egg and then bread crumbs. I browned them on all sides in butter (in a pan that I could transfer to oven.) Topped with 1 more slice each of ham and Swiss cheese, poured in about 1/8 cup of chicken broth and baked in 375 degree oven for 20 minutes. While they were finishing in the oven I took 4 tablespoons of butter and 3 tablespoons of flour and cooked the flour for 1 minute. Added 3/4 can of low sodium chicken broth, 1/4 cup of milk, a pinch of nutmeg and made gravy. I didn’t serve the chicken with the gravy on top, I let everyone do that themselves. The chicken was juicy, tender and done to perfection! Thanks SO MUCH for a great base recipe that I will use for many years to come!!!
