Chocolate Lovers' Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
Delicious! I only had a cake mix with pudding already in it so I used that without adding the box of pudding called for in the recipe. Used vanilla instead of almond (personal preference). Also, I don't like chunks of chocolate in my cake so I melted the chips (1/2 dark and 1/2 semi-sweet) and added it in at the end of the mixing. Sprinkled powdered sugar on top. Turned out very moist and delicious! Will make again!

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: May 22, 2009
I made it with a few of the changes listed by others. Here is what I did: 1.5 cups flour, 1/2 tsp basil, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp Italian seasoning, 1 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp black pepper. Mixed together and then added 1 egg, 1.5 T olive oil, 1.5 T water, 1/3 + 1/4 c. milk. Spread on greased pan that was sprinkled w/ cornmeal. I baked at 400 for 13 min. (next time will probably do 15-17 min). Added cheese and my toppings (sausage & pepperoni) and baked for 12 more minutes. Added some more cheese and baked 3 min. more. Turned out really well and the kids liked it too. I think I would back a little more in the beginning because I like my crust a little crispier but overall, it was really good.

Chicken Spaghetti II

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2009
Hey sister-in-law........your recipe is getting popular! We love this too! The only thing that I do differently is to saute some onions and minced garlic in a little butter before melting the soup and cheese. Also, I add in a can of cream of mushroom soup along w/ the cream of chicken. So good!!!!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
This is the lasagna recipe that I've been looking for!!! It is fabulous!! The only changes that I made were out of necessity and it was still fantastic. After I started making it, I realized that I didn't have any tomato paste. I substituted with a 14 oz. can of crushed tomatoes. Also, I didn't have any fennel seed so I left that out. Also, I used the no-boil noodles and they worked out great. I'm anxious to try this again with the fennel seed to see the difference but it was still great even without it. I took this to a church function and got compliments from everyone who ate it (some had several helpings). 2nd review: I made it according to the original recipe and the tomato flavor was too strong so I am sticking with my substitution: 1 (14 oz.) can of diced or crushed tomatoes in place of the tomato paste and water. Usually, I double the recipe, let it simmer in the crockpot all day and then eat some sauce with spaghetti and make the rest up into lasagna and freeze for future use. I also freeze just some sauce for spaghetti. Awesome!!!

Salsa Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2009
Totally Yummy!!! Based on some of the other reviews, here are the changes that I made: 1. Used 1.5 cups of uncooked brown rice (cook as directed before adding to casserole) 2. Used drained can of Rotel in place of the salsa 3. Instead of layering, I mixed everything up and then placed in pan and sprinkled the top with cheese. 4. Used less cheese. I used 1 cup in the mixture and then just enough to cover the top of the casserole. 5. Added 1/2 cup of sour cream to mixture. 6. Gave the mixture a generous sprinkling of chili powder, cumin, and garlic powder 7. Sauteed some garlic with the onion 8. Added in a can of rinsed black beans These changes made for a delicious dinner! Both kids, husband, and father-in-law loved it!!!

Southern Praline Pecan Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
This cake is the "bomb"!!! I have made it many times and it always gets rave reviews. I think I could eat the whole thing myself!! I do reduce the oil to 1/2 cup but leave everything else the same. It turns out awesome!!! Update: I have many time and still get rave review. The latest thing that I've been doing is using a devils food cake mix with chocolate fudge icing. AMAZING!!!! I had several men in the office tell me how delicious it was and they usually don't make comments like that. Try it......you'll love it!

Blackberry Cobbler

My friend made this recipe and it was TOTALLY AWESOME! Absolutely the best cobbler I've every had. The only thing that she did different was use 4 cups of blackberries and increase the water and sugar to 1.5 cups each. FABULOUS!!!! I can't wait to try it myself.

Honey Bun Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
I have been using this recipe for several years and everybody that has tasted it just loves it! It is especially good served warm. The only thing that I do differently is to omit the raisins because I don't like them. Also, I use pecans instead of walnuts, again, my preference. Another thing, I don't use quite 2 cups (maybe 1.5 - 1.75 cups) of powdered sugar in the icing because I think it makes it too sweet.

Chocolate Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2008
This was awesome! The only change I made was to substitute 1 cup of whole milk with 1 cup of heavy whipping cream. I did that only because I didn't want the whipping cream to go to waste. It turned out wonderful! I'm sure the original would be great as is. I took it to an ice cream social at our church and everybody liked it. The only other thing that I might change is to use on 1/4 cup of cocoa because it did have a strong flavor. I liked it though!
