My favorite things to cook
Any new recipe that has caught my fancy, broiled asparagus, slow cooking ANYTHING, any "traditions"-corned beef on St. Patty's, 1954 Sugar Cookies for Christmas, Bourbon and Bacon stuffing for Thanksgiving...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Extra pie crust into small jelly pocket pies...green jello with cottage cheese and pineapple at holidays...bisquick pizza crust...zucchini bread
My cooking triumphs
Leg of Lamb for Christmas 2009...many successful St. Patty's Day feasts over the years (corned beef, cabbage, soda bread, boiled potatoes)...giant Bavarian Pretzels that came out just beautifully...from-scratch cherry and apple pies
My cooking tragedies
Hollandaise sauce and artichokes...I ruined both entirely. I don't think it helped that I was trying a healthier version of the Hollandaise, and I don't know what happened to the artichoke but it was inedible. Any ideas?
Fresh green beans with bacon pieces. Sounds simple, but somewhere between reserving a portion of the bacon grease to mix back in the beans, as well as chopping bacon into pieces to add to the greens, the whole thing was a greasy mess. I haven't tried again.
