About this Cook
My husband and I have been married for 12 years now. We have two beautiful children (Claire-age 10 and Seth-age 7) that, I am proud to say, aren't picky eaters. I prepare 100% of the food in our house and love to try new recipes. Cooking is not a chore for me, it is more of a hobby. Whenever my children want to ask me a question or talk to me, they always look for me in the kitchen first!
My favorite things to cook
I love to make appetizers, desserts, main courses. I really like to experiment with copying restaurant recipes. My latest attempt is P.F. Chang's chicken lettuce wraps and dipping sauce. You name it and I will try it...except for seafood. I abhor the smell of fishy foods!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Both of my children love to work with me in the kitchen. In particular, m son, Seth, calls himself Emeril--as in Emeril Lagasse on Food Network. He always makes sure to adorn himself in his chef coat and hat when he prepares something to eat with me.

Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup
Followed the recipe as written *except I only had 6 chicken breast halves. I also didn't put the sour cream in until it was ladled in bowls. I just put a dollop on top. Man, was this soup delicious!!!! We sprinkled a few chipotle cheddar tortilla strips (found in salad dressing aisle) on top and enjoyed this soup!

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting
This frosting is GREAT! I upped the deliciousness by adding a packet of vanilla pudding to the heavy whipping cream at the start of the mixing. I also subbed 1 3/4 cup of powdered sugar instead of granulated so the consistency would be smoother. The pudding mix tightened the frosting a little too much, so I thinned it to piping consistency with some evaporated milk.
