About this Cook
I try to cook every chance I get. My family knows that I like to try new recipes, and I take my list of ingredients with me every time I go grocery shopping.
My favorite things to cook
Lasagna (my moms recipe)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving we always bring a traditional side dish and one new dish. I always make my cream cheese mashed potatoes. One year my new dish was a cranberry sauce I found on all recipes, everybody loved it. Now I have to make it every year. So long, canned Ocean Spray.
My cooking triumphs
When my husband and I were dating, he came over to my house and I made him dinner for the first time. It was a pork dish with a spicy salsa, rice and beans. He says it was the best meal I ever made for him. I have never been able to make it the same way since.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count

Sour Cream Salad Dressing
I was not sure about adding brown sugar but in the end I added it and it turned out very nice. I read another view that said to add chives, which I did and that made it even better. Also, I did not have any cider vinegar so I used white vinegar.

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread
These are SOOOO good. I want to give it more stars. I added about 3 tbl of white sugar a few drops of lemon juice and 2 tbl finely grated lemon peel to the cookie dough. I topped the cooled cookies with homemade lemon buttercream frosting and they really did melt in your mouth. I already saved it. Next time, dutch cocoa! Mmm

The Best Lemon Bars
Oh, these are yummy. The recipe calls for the juice of 2 lemons, well my 2 lemons were huge and gave me 1 full cup of juice. I used the whole cup in my recipe and I think that may be why these really are The Best Lemon Bars. So tangy in the middle, sweet, buttery, crumbly crust. Yummy. (P.S. 14 year old son gave them two thumbs up).
