Ham and Potatoes Au Gratin

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2011
This was fantastic! I will make this again. Talk about comfort food. I baked mine for one hour and 15 minutes and the potatoes were nice and tender.

Cabbage Soup II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
It was okay I guess. It seemed very rich making us unable to eat much of it. I would add the cabbage at the last 20 minutes because it wilted down to almost nothing. I used rice instead of barley and it turned out okay. Hey, but it is an inexpensive meal.

Hamburger Soup I

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
The only things that I did different was to add lima beans since I did not have any corn and I always use crushed tomatoes instead of diced. I gave it five stars since it was mainly so inexpensive to make. It tasted wonderful and had a nice rich broth. The best thing is how versatile it is. I can't wait to try other vegetables and meats. Two grown men consumed almost the whole batch.

Savory Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
I made these exactly as the original, except I added three extra egg yolks to the mixture and increased the other ingredients by 50% so the eggs were extra full. They are very tangy, which I loved, and the dill was nice. I will make these again.

Homemade Wine

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
I boiled the water and then added the sugar so it dissolved comepletely. I added the yeast to the liquid when it was still slightly warm, and it was ready to drink in about 9 days. All of the yeast settled to the bottom of the gallon jug, and the wine became clear. I used the Hodgson Mill yeast (8.75g). This stuff is strong, and it creeps up on you. Before I knew it, I had drank about on third of it because it tastes so good. I was very drunk and extremely hungover the next day.

Goldenrod Eggs

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
My sauce turned out really runny. I also thought that it was too much sauce for two pieces of bread, and way too much work for the results. Sorry, I just didn't like it very much.

This just tasted absolutely odd with the whiskey. I just did not enjoy it, sorry.

No Beans About It - Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
The only thing I did different was use bulk sausage instead of ground beef, and crushed red pepper flakes since I was out of hot sauce. I was a little turned off at how tangy it was with all of that vinegar at first, but after a few more bites I couldn't stop eating it. I really enjoyed the big tomato "punch" it had. It is great over rice. Thumb up!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
I added about a half of a cup of celery with the onion, and a few tablespoons of tomato paste along with the ketchup to give it some color and richness. I noticed that I had to cook the carrots about five minutes longer. My "husband" got up for seconds and thirds, which he never does. I did find this recipe time consuming but well worth it!

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2007
Very good! This recipe fooled a "Foodie". The sweetness is subtle. I used the Beefy Onion soup mix instead. I will make this again.
